Ive had the plastic from under the car (engine) hanging down for some time. I cant repair it anymore as there inst much left, is it OK to just remove or should I buy a whole new piece?

Mine's been gone for a while, I've not worried about it. Someone in the Toledo section did buy a set of plastics, I don't believe they were that expensive.

Make a couple of little holes in it and the wheelarch liner and just whack a couple of cable ties round it that's what I had to do.

I had the same problem mate, big chunks missing where it has been scraping over speed bumps and a few of the catches had fallen out so it had just been scraping along the road too.... took it off a few months ago and havent had any problems.... only downsides are 1) engine bay will get dirtier quicker and 2) gotta be more careful over speed bumps as your sump is more exposed... the scraping you usually hear on the plastic will end up being on the actual sump - this said, I personally can't see how a sheet of plastic can provide more than scratch protection - it's not really going to stop your sump cracking on a high impact hit.

Bin it and just take it easy over bumps :)

Mine came off too mate, i put it back on and then had to take it all off again to change my oil 2 weeks later, its more hassle than its worth . . some people will say keep it as its there for many reasons, ( sump protection, better airflow under car, etc etc . . keep it somewhere and put it back when you sell the car if need be. :D . .

It actually is important but then again it's up to you what you do with it , the lcr one has ducts and vents to push air in certain places that need the air forced there , for the sake of new screws or cable ties I would fix it back

i too will go against many on this thread and state that you really do want to keep one in place.

I do agree that its not really for sump protection if you are going to smack it on something, but it will provide protection from stones/ debris and water!

The cambelt for example is quite open to the elements from under the car without one. Some pipes, electrics etc... and add to that there will be lots of water and salt for the next 4 months.

They are not cheap though. (about £100) and on balance as seen on this thread alot of people dont have one fitted.
