Mine seem to fit perfectly as far as I'm concerned. The front one screws onto the plate mount which sits slightly forward of the main grille part so there's always going to be a gap. As long as it's mounted centrally and level it should look decent enough.
 
I don't actually have any screw holes on mine, just a mount for the plate, I've got about 10 sticky pads on there now but its still coming away at one side. Will be hell to remove all those pads too. Not sure what to do!
 
Best way is to just bite the bullet and screw it in, for your own peace of mind of anything, much harder to steal plates that are screwed on especially with the amount of plate theft going on for drive offs at the moment.
