• Hi Guest There will be essential maintenance on the server on Monday 10th November from 5am meaning the website will be offline for a period of time. We will do everything to ensure the downtime is kept to a minimum.
Looks smashing mate, how you finding the map? Any problems with the clutch? A cheaper alternative regarding the brakes would be uprating to normal 288mm brembo max discs and brembo pads. Got them on mine and a big difference. Can't be asked to uprate to 312mm, costs too much. Well Im a student afterall lol

Hi yaz, having had the remap for a while now I don't really notice it day-to-day but when I take it on a long run and gun it then its still a good feeling :D, it also surprises a few other drivers when they think its only a diesel !!!
The clutch has just started to show signs of slipping when I'm in 6th gear and decided to floor it but still ok at the moment. Could be an excuse to look at an upgraded clutch ;)

As for your brakes, you could have bought the carriers from a scappy / second hand then just had to buy 312 discs & pads  (your 288mm calipers would be a strait fit)

Thats cool about the remap, im looking to get mine down in a few weeks time. Have you done anything else to accommodate the map? Any engine work? Regarding the brakes I have heard similar to what you wrote, will change in the future when funds arrive. Sometimes a bit extra bite on the brakes help.

Yea, I got a Milteck exhaust cat back fitted. I also had an Allard EGR delete pipe fitted for 6 months but due to the EML light staying on I decided to return to the EGR valve but bypassed the breather pipe to air intake - ill get a photo up when I get a few mins

Where did you get the new dogbone? I will have to smash mine to get it off? And part numbers and prices? As all the ones on the bay of e seem to be for petrol motors. But i suppose it wouldnt matter as im going to do the powerflex bush!

Your car is how i want my fr! Im not a million miles away

Oem+ ftw

Hi mate, I bought a new dogbone mount assembly from local TPS - part number 1J0199851R and cost £46
The petrol ones on eBay will be fine if you plan on changing the bush anyway :) but be warned you will get a noticeable increase in vibration from the gearbox up thru the steering & pedals :(
Nice car you have and yeah keeping the OEM look is good

I wouldn't reccomend doing it to be honest, I am after the standard dogbone, because I'm looking after a mates leon FR tdi because he is in Afghanistan at the moment, and the difference in engine noise, vibration is unreal. It does stop the wheel bounce if you ever wheel spin though.

I think it will be okay with the red powerflex bush (diesel) vibes will be there but hoping its liveable! My standard bush is cream crackered and to get the dogbone off ill have to smash it off! Seized solid even though both bolts have sheared! Waiting until better weather to sort it out :)

Replaced the FR badges on both sides due to one missing and the other fading badly
