Pollishing dynatwist heat shield?

hi all, my heatshield is looking pretty manky at the moment. Its gone all anodised and is corroding around the clips.

Any ideas on how to restore it?

a really good scrub with some polish should bring it out better than a new one

nxt all metal polish is in my bag

i guess the shield is made of alluminium? so can you use any metal polish on that?

when i clean my exhaust I use brillo pads...would that be okay on it?

sorry for these stupid questions but I'm clueless about cleaning/polishing things!

yeah wouldnt use a brillo pad, it'll just leave alot of marks

u wanna just use a cloth and some polish, brasso or nxt metal polish
work it really hard into the bad areas

if it doesnt sort it then perhaps some finishing paper which is like a very very fine wet and dry

I've 'wire wooled' mine to leave a nice flat finish. It was getting annoying having to polish it, so took the sticker off and got wooling. Looks great, will be attempting a matt black finish this weekend. Not too sure if that effects its heat resistance as black doesn't reflect heat too well.

autosol and lots of elbow grease should do it, i think fmics are made from a similar metal and it did wonders.

Use some T Cut or other rubbing compound!

Wire wool and wd40 will sort it out, then some autosol followed by some polish of some sort.

I've just spent an hour brillo padding and its come out very well. It'll be perfect once i finish it off with some metal polish.
