I see what you mean, the gap seems massive!
Showed the pics to my mate and he reckons what youve done is great, the alloys in the first pic (ronals?) were actually the ones he was thinking of buying!

there's a guy who's put Borbet A's on a polo gti in 9.16's and 7.5x16's and it looks real good!

if your mate wants 17's i think 9x17's and 8x17's would be cool! just like me old Keskins. I'm not sure how tight they would be under the arches but it maybe worth looking into?

tbh they were the first rims i found, got the pic of vwvortex. i think they suit it well as they are pretty similar to the standard rims, only deep-dish. i think they are ronal. i agree with you on the colour coded, doing all of it would be OTT. ill dig out some more whell pics and upload some more chops a bit later.....

They look a bit like the brock b2 / b2 super cup like what beattie17 is refurbing in his wheels thread, liking them a lot.
