anything undersize or under opening can cause creep, that and poor flowing pipework to it.
I would'nt expect an external gate to creep tho.. no..

I hope its not a flow problem!!
I'm using a tial 44mm wg with screamer pipe... only things I can think of is either the spring not fully opening/closing or my screamer pipe as it goes to the side of the car...
Really didnt think it would cause a problem tho!
I had to use two springs a small and big one to make it a 1.2bar setup, silly design.

a few pics...

surely this isnt a restriction, Can take it off if needed tho so its much smaller

Manifold still going strong thank god... but its only seen 750egts so far...

Finally got some 17" rims on... didnt help much with traction who, just making me torque steer even more and feels even more dangerous now... I ordered some KW V3's so cant wait to get them on.

Screamer pipe to the side... too loud tho!

Still need to make a metal water deflector!!

missing the AEM a/f gauge, failed on me in 2weeks had to send back to u.s

Im just waiting for the phone call from JBS hoping they say the car is done and they not that they have a problem with my mechanicals.

your using the apexi on fixed duty cycle or boost learn mode?
no way should that wastegate arrangement creep unless your solenoid is leaking thru. What duty cycles is the apexi running? 90% is its limit from memory when i ran one.

as for the fixed spring rate, if you dual port the tial you can use lower fixed springs to lower its start point, and control boost by differential bleeding. I am looking at this myself but for now am sticking with 1bar actuator on single port plumbing.

hope it all works out for you.

got that call yet?

is the car standard apart from the engine? and now the wheels?

I wouldn't say standard but it has subtle mods!

VRS brakes - not good enough! got porsche calipers going on when its back
VRS suspension
Custom ARBs
Uprated bushes all round
Vibratechnic engine mounts
Engine dampers x2 now.
Erm... LSD!

Yeah thats about it!

Ordered my suspension, strut brace(custom made) and carbon fibre bonnet with vents for turbo and filter!

Hi Bill!
Well I got a call today from JBS saying they have had good progress & they were also impressed, and that it will be ready tomorrow morning!
I didnt ask the power levels, just want to be suprised!
As long as its over 400@flywheel i will be fine with that!
I do have the AEB ported head, r32 TB and RMR mani which should help me make the power with lower boost than other setups.. well I hope!

Fixed duty on apexi, learn mode off whenI dropped it to JBS.
Been driving with avcr off and still boosts up to 1.6?! Wouldnt solenoid be off?
Solenoid Duty cycle shows 0 as i kept apexi on off..

I think I have it setup with dual port... does that mean both vacuum ports from EWG plumbed into apexi??
I was using 0.9bar spring and it stayed at that till redline with apexi off - I changed it as with avcr duty is at 90% max that meant I could only run 1.7-1.8bar i think ...
Also I changed to 1.2bar spring as I thought it would give me more stable boost control rather than working the solenoid... I dont think I will be going over 1.8bar anyway

Am I well off Bill???

I told james to setup the apexi for me best he can, try limit 1st and 2nd gear boost, and also left them with a few WG springs to play with if need be..

summat a bit weird there int he setting or the plumbing.. especially if its in dual port mode.

I am using the apexi control valve on mine, but only got on the nursery slopes on duty cycle to it... will try an N75 probably also and see which one works nicer.
The apexi's 90's duty cycle max limited my fp reds max boost. N75 would allow more boost from lower duty cycles. (but thats comparing apexi and me7 so apples and pears perhaps in what gets reported as duty cycle)

Sounds like a monstor :D

Enjoy

Polo is Mapped and back home!

Hello all!
Got the polo back from jbs yesterday afternoon:happy::happy:

Everything went well mapping wise expect the coolant plastic housing on the side of engine came off when they were mapping but apart from that all was ok!

All I can say is JBS are just so excellent at mapping! Everything is spot on to what I wanted and the car feels so eager.
And somehow I still get a good average! I did 100miles for £15 vpower.

They mapped it on road and set up the avcr with A & B settings...
A= 1.9BAR boost spike and 1.7BAR @ redline :clap:
B= 1.6BAR @ redline with sort of linear power.

B setting has been good today in the rain atleast I can pick up some speed before spinning the wheels! In the K04 it just happend instantly which was a pain if that makes sense..

Unfortunately they couldn't do an RR as my suspension is not upto the task, the car goes all over the place, but they said its running very well with supporting mods and easily 450bhp+
Still waiting for delivery of suspension then will be going back for Dyno run..

It sure does feel like an animal!

It boosts so quickly im sure I had 1.9bar @4500k!!

Defo not as much fun in town as the K04 but get to open roads.......:D

I couldn't really go all out yet as the car really feels dangerous on full boost in 3rd, 4th 5th so waiting for suspension and a few other mods to go on next week.. I've only been going upto 5500k so far.
I will get some video clips asap

I would like to say thank you to everybody who helped me on this forum with your opinions and comments, especially Bill, I really appreciated it!

Now I just got to find some SEAT's to play with on the streets, show them its all about VW:whistle:

excellent progress. mind out in the wet conditions.. mine previously would wheelspin in the first 4 gears in the wet. (eak!)

what suspension you have now vs going for?

sounds like a pocket rocket

Good results! I really like this car. Understated on the outside but totally mad under the bonnet :)

Must be crazy in the wet. I can even spin my wheels in 4th in the wet and I have much less power than you. Also have racelogic TC which helps alot for keeping it safe in damp conditions.

Thanks alot!

In the dry its starts to loose traction in 3rd over 5k, in the dry im not flooring it!

At the mo I have skoda vrs suspension (standard!) I dunno how I have managed but I think its made me a better driver!
I;ve ordered KW Variant 3's, fully adjustable everything. All the places I ring recomend I get these as I need to adjust the damping..

Thanks HTC! it puts a smile on my face everytime I bring it out!

Is the racelogic hard to fit, did you do yourself?
I have been thinking about this for ages but is pricey also, I have a set of r888's for the front but think its pointless for the next few months with the cold wet weather.

Hi all, quick update on my polo...

got to drive it hard yesterday as it was dry but foggy in leicester..

Couple of problems unfortunately wonder if anyone can shed some light?

Basically since I have got the car its been running fine holding boost to 6k (1.65) (didnt go past 6k),
but yesterday I was racing my mates evo and in second the car spun and just kept hopping really bad so when I put into 3rd, it just didnt want to boost up, turbo felt reluctant, I still floored it and it would go to 1.5 and fluctuate up and down between 1.2 & 1.5?? I thought something came off or got lose due to the hopping.
I switched the car off for 30secs, and it was back to normal?! Like it went in safe mode but I have no N75!

Also on the way back down the motorway I got the sort of same problem but at 1.6-1.7bar, it was holding boost but fluctuating again but not as bad...
Then At about 6k the pull felt so strong then it backed off at about 7k (first time gone there!) like hitting fuel cut in a jap car... the car backed off its self (unless I hit the rev limiter at 7k which I doubt), I drove back slowly but the car didnt feel eager again...

Still have to contact JBS to ask them but thought I would ask here also.. could it be due to the outside temps being soo low yesterday it was hitting more boost so the apexi solenoid was trying to pull back the boost??
Im not sure if apexi does that or not tho!

Also I keep getting fault codes for maximum charge pressure limit reached and engine warrenty void..

JBS mapped it with the 1.5bar MAP sensor, so I dont know if, its normal for the code as its going above 1.5 or because its going higher then they set it to go??

I took the apexi out my sti so is fairly old, wondering if my solenoid could be on its way out? Any way to check? Seems nomatter what boost I run solenoid duty is always 90% when avcr on.

Also I noticed that when I think im flooring it, im actually at 86% throttle on the apexi, when I really push down to the carpet it goes to 100% which I was making sure I do yesterday.. Wondering if thats causing the problem..

That might sound silly but its true, I have been getting all those boost figures with throttle at 88%, I wonder if the TB is fully open or not and what the ECU thinks is happening...
On VAG-COM there is a box that says idle, over-run etc etc.. should it say enrich when on full throttle?
Sorry for the essay, I find it hard to explain in writing!

The worst thing is I got myself a AEM A/F gauge and it failed so sent it back to the U.S, not heard nothing still!
If I could watch my A/F's I would feel much better!!

Hope you guys have an explanation for me:(

throttle problem sounds like you need to adjust it. stick your head under the dash and you should see the adjuster

Dont worry about the engine warranty void code. Its because you have gone over rev limit set from the factory. Nice little smiley face at the end of the code aswell if I remember rightly!
