poor idle when cold

Hi got a few problems so had to do 2 separate posts in the hope of getting more responses.

I've notice lately with the really cold mornings that when I first start the engine it idles between 300rpm and 700rpm up and down and actually stalled on my as I pulled out of works car park.

any ideas please

This could be your coolant temperature sensor.

Assuming that's the problem, they are less than £30 and are really easy to replace. There's a couple of good how-tos somewhere on here.

I have one for sale, £10 plus p&p which shouldn't be more than £3-£4...

might be interested in that then mate, I'll have a look over it and see if the wires to it are damaged first, I'll give you a shout if I need one

could also be gunky throttle body? has this just happened or gradual?

is the car fine when warmed up?

happened when i got it this time last year. fine all summer just when really cold. now and again the temp light flashes in start up as well.
