Why do you want pops and bangs? 'Cos it sounds 'cool'?
Unless your car is running anti-lag the pops and bangs shouldn't really happen (in a standard/low tuned car). You ideally want all the fuel igniting in the chamber not in the exhaust pipe.
If it's over fuelled a lilttle bit and/or your car can't ignite all the fuel properly then I guess it'll go bang. But I wouldn't go chasing it specially. As yopu ramp up the performance they will probably come.
