Hi all, I joined up mainly to get hints at what to look for in a potential purchase I'm making next week.

I'm from a small village (Parkgate) in Northern Ireland and have never owned anything from the Seat range of the VAG family, never mind a diesel car.

I had a Mk3 Golf GTi 2.0 8v and when I met my wife she had a Mk4 Golf GT TDI which became plagued by electrical faults surrounding the central locking system, but bar that I've never worked on the PD engines.

The model I'm looking at is a '03 TDi S model, 133k miles with a full years MOT.

I'm aware that it may also suffer similar central locking issues as the Mk4 golf they are related to, and some water ingress, but keen to find out what else.

I'm a petrol head really, a trained mechanic, but in my life I've rarely worked on a diesel so it's a bit new to me. . . .

Thanks buddy, being an '09 model I fear its out of my price range.

The '03 one I mentioned the current owner is looking to do a deal with my current car.

he wanted 6650 for it....probably quite a bit more than the Mk1 with 133k miles, but there's loads of guys on here with cars well over 100k miles and still getting good use and fun out of them.
just have to find the right one....
