MATT-IBIZA 1.9

Guest
Hi i drive an ibiza sport 1.9tdi pd 100.

Need more power not silly amounts would just be happy to go to 130 for a start? the car is a company car so would i be safe to have a remap from say superchip? i dont want it to be noticeable to the dealer through VAG-COM etc would i be safer going for a tuning box or chip that can be 'installed in 2 tics' that can be removed if needed?

I was looking on ebay at the ones for £25 ish. are they dangerous? prone to engine damage? if not why they so cheap for say 35bhp increase?

And finally what is my turbo good for? cope with 130-140bhp fine?

I'd do a search. There is tons of stuff about this on here.

I've not modded mine (yet, although I am tempted) but I think you can stick it up to about 130-140 without issue. I think (although am not sure) the first problems you will run into are heatsoak with the small side mounted intercooler (SMIC) not coping and the clutch being battered by the associated increase in torque.

I wouldn't look twice at a £25 chip from eBay. Surely common sense tells you these are a bit sh1te, or else people on here wouldn't be spending £300+ on remaps and the like.
If it looks to good to be true, it generally is too good to be true.......

sound advice there, don't look at the chip as its a waste of cash get a remap which takes you to about 130bhp and you should see a nice difference

exactly what i thought. and i would without question get a re-map if it were my car and id notify the insurance and be a good boy. but i dont have that option i cant have it been noticed by the dealer or im screwed. my job is on the line here boys!

You can turn revo off with a gadgety thingy (technical term:D) and i think custom code can be turned off with vag.com. So if you need to go in for a service or anything just turn it off and it wil be back to standard again

tbh I dont think they would notice, but why play with fire mate?

Can you explain.? i do need a power increase but if i could help it did not want anything to permanent if i could achieve reasonable power increase without a remap.

what Im meaning is if you could loose your job by doing this why would you want to do it. Obviously the car is not going to go magicly faster on its own, so you will need to add/change things. So these can be detected if people are looking for them, probably the hardest thing to detect is a remap, 99% of dealers wouldnt detect it and 99% of insurances would but you should still tell the insurance.

With Revo you can turn the remap off using a select device but you pay for the privlage.
With Custom code you can turn it off using vag com and a lead but again you need to buy this software and set it up.

so is that definate? with a custom code remap i could turn it off with VAG-COM. i have a fully working VAG-COM available from a garage for free when ever i need it so that would suit me just sound

cheers

best get looking at CC remap then

that is for definate, as I have a CC remap myself.

cheers guinness. i went to CC website and then contact us. one of their mobile dealers is in scunthorpe where i live. emailed him and was very help full. said the car can be returned to stock before the car goes back to the lease company. sounds like the direction im after going. is the extra 35-40 bhp going to improve things much Guinness? should do it is 35-40% gain? and 0-60/ top speed figures from anyone with the stage 1 CC remap?

he has just gave me a price of £312.55 + VAT. and for that he will come to my house remap it then when the lease is up on the car in 3.5 years will come back to return it to stock. Good price?

cheers

I know with those tuning boxes - all they do is trick the engine. They tell the engine that the temperature is cooler than it is or something. I can't honestly remember. All I know is that they are bad and should be steered clear of. They aren't good. :(

the CC remap is mint, can honestly say it put a good bit of power on the car, know this because I can leave my mates 130 with ease now. The car is total diffrent drive after the remap just pulls so much better.
