I use bp ulitimate in mine, tried 95 ron in the isle of wight a couple of years ago coz they don't have anything else, car didn't seem to like it that much. Plus I like getting nectar points. I do use standard diesel in my lorry, I think my boss would skin me alive if I used ultimate 730 liters to fill both tanks up.

I think when you get down to it, I'd rather use it.. than not. The fact the actual fuel-mix is DIFFERENT denotes the fact there will be a scientific difference in the performance of the engine. Whether that translates to noticeable driving performance or not; I don't know.

I use it because.. why not? Tesco 99 is fine. I do 320 miles a week in my LC and to be honest, if I was going to be counting the MPG and never driving it past 60, I'd of bought a diesel. I average 20MPG in my LC.

mike!
finally someone hits the nail on the head!
i too have tried all of the fuels and you are so right if its a standard car and you don't spend your whole journey on the rev limiter then 95's fine. 97, 98, 99 ,100????? your not going to gain much, and with the prices what they are your not going to gain in ya pocket either. theres plenty to choose from , just stay away from the supermarket stuff!!! even though they come from the same refineries as the big brands, they recieve a completely different and minimal recipe of additives before they are loaded in to the tanker.

Perhaps it's because my LCR is remapped, but I notice a massive difference in performance between Shell 95 and Shell V-Power.

Even my mrs noticed the difference! The exhaust note is deeper and the car far more responsive on V-Power, and I get an additional 70 miles to a tank, which is worth the extra few £.

Obviously there's going to be a fair bit of truth-stretching by the petrol producers regarding their "Premium" fuels, but V-Power does actually seem to live up to the hype, whereas BP Ultimate and Tesco 99 don't.

In my opinion, obviously! :)

Tesco 99 doesn't..... because? I've not seen much hype over Tesco 99 ... but I have seen dyno readouts for a few cars running Teco 95 and 99.. 99 has BHP yields higher than 95.
