problem starting the car

hi ive got a problem starting my mk3 ibiza cupra and wonder if anyone can help. vag com wont connect to the car anymore and im thinking my ecu is fooked anyone got any ideas thanks

what does it do when you turn the key??

it starts then dies if you try to turn it on about ten times it will eventually start

If in doubt, get it out! if its wet you could save money by getting it repaired now before its totally fooked.

it doesn't look wet but a little clean in places

You will need to get it opened and checked over, you can do this yourself as long as you dont touch the internals as they will be static sensitive, just look for discoloured markings or broken tracks. or even better, get a pic up.

could be a sensor also, if vagcom isnt communicating with the ecu itll be a long process of testing them though, if it isnt the ecu!

why would the ignition ring/switch stop the ecu from chatting to vagcom?
that 1000 quid would be an interesting bet to take up.

it will cost about 47quid 2 fix if you dont fcuk the airbag igniter taking the steering wheel off other wise it will be 147 quid
