EDIT: Title should say lock NOT disengaging when key removed from ignition.

Hi All,

My G/F's Altea has developed a problem.

When she removes the key from the ignition, the locks normally disengage however they are no longer doing this. In addition, the Radio is not turning off, she now has to manually turn it off.

Also, the remote locking is not working when unlocking the car, she has to use the key in the door.

Naturally, our first thought was dead battery but she has tried the spare key and the same thing is happening. Admittedly both keys could have dead batteries but the light still shines on both fobs when the buttons are pressed.

Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause of this if Batteries are not an issue?

sounds like the ecu may possibly have a coding glitch since these items can be set on/off with VagCom.
You need to get hooked up to vag com and check for faults in the "convenience module"
However it maybe worth resetting ecu by disconnecting battery for at least 30 mins. This can reset values stored in ecu.

put a bit of lube in the ignition switch work it with the key there is a micro switch in the ignition that sticks. If it sticks the j519 control unit cannot see the key has not been removed ok

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Thanks for the suggestions. It certainly seems like something could be sticking as it's an intermittent fault.

We'll do both suggestions that you guys have provided.

Thanks again. Very much appreciated.
