its fitted back all ok after re-welded it and fitted new white clip...

Most of the time when I first get into the car there is a lot of play in the clutch pedal when pushing it to the floor... after half hour of driving the play goes and its solid.. felt like how it was before it snapped.

What i have noticed is the gold bar from the clutch cylinder going to the clip has movement between the cylinder and the white clip.

Any ideas?

Its on a mk3 cupra

yeah i thought this... will have to read up on bleeding it... never had to bleed anything before... cheers guys.

oh, what kinda price would a new master cylinder be? would rather fit it my self than take it to a garage. like i said. only thing i wont be sure on is bleeding it as never done it.

i still have not sorted my original problem but now have another problem with it... ive tried searching but with no results.

when the brake pedal is pressed and kept down, if i was to push in the clutch pedal at the same time the brake pedal moves?

i thought maybe cause its pushing the fluid back around but i aint sure.. any ideas? i've had a look and cant see anything wrong anywhere with the pedal box.

go to halfords and buy a 1 man bleeding kit. From the engine bay looking onto gearbox you will see a nipple near the master cylinder. Place the bleeding hose onto this and then crack the nipple with a 10mm spanner. Go in the car and pump the clutch using your hand. Do full length pumps from top to bottom.. Keep going back every few times to check the pipe for air bubbles. But make sure u leave the clutch pedal to the floor when you do it. You dont want any bubbles so keep doing it till you can only see fluid. Oh and take the top off the break fluid bottle. And obviously dont forget to top it back up to fill line
