Hi There
I have a 1.4 2003 Seat Ibiza and am having a few issues with the Engine Mangement and EPC lights. They don't go off when i turn the ignition on and don't start the car, and haven't done since i got it back from its service in March. The car runs ok, a bit sluggish at times but alarmingly the engine cuts out sometimes when i'm driving. It always starts again straight away. The oil warning flashes for the first 10 mins of starting the car (the levels are fine), and the Engine Management and EPC lights come on intermittently. There is no pattern with this.
The history is that i was rear-ended end of Jan causing only bumper damage. The day after i got the car back from the repair centre it went to the local Kwik-Fit for its MOT and Service - which it passed no probs. When i picked the car up i noticed - when driving home that the service warning was still flashing and hadn't been re-set. I phoned Kwik-Fit and they said that their diagnostics machine wasn't working so they hadn't been able to re-set it. On the service breakdown sheet it said that the diagnostic machine wasn't working under "Check for diagnostic trouble codes and Engine Management Diagnostics". They said to come back down as they could re-set it manually by turning the dial on the mileometer - which they did. All was fine for a bit but then the problems with the lights and the engine cutting out started, and the service warning is now permenantly displayed on the mileometer.
Kwik-Fit have since said that as it's diagnostics they can't touch it, my breakdown man said that when he plugged his mobile diagnotic kit in it the 1st reading said that there was a fault with the MAP sensor but it didn't show up on the 2nd reading and a third garage have said that its the coils in the engine (i had 1 replaced last year). The third garage said that i should have had all the coils replaced at the same time - and quoted me about £200.00 to replace them all. In the next breath he said that i wouldn't need the 1 replacing that i had done last year as that was still new. Hasn't he merely undone what he said about having to have them all replaced at the same time in the first breath?
So, i'm completely confused.com and don't know much about mechanics, but i do know i don't want to start paying out lots of money to get this sorted.
Can anyone suggest where i can take it in the Bournemouth area where i won't be told that i needn't worry about these lights coming on please?
Many Thanks!!!

Sorted!, word of advise take your ECU out and expect water inside the housing, drain it wipe it dry spray a vast amount of contact cleaner on the circuit board and dab dry with a clean cloth, allow to completly dry over night in a warm place. Re-install ECU and fingers crossed you should be clear of all these symtoms. :)
