i have a new flip key fob that is cut and programmed so that it opens the doors etc (remote works) but i need the immobiliser reprogrmmed , im booked in at the dealers next week , but was wondering can i do this with vagcom ( have full version) i read a guide somewere that i need a dealer code and also my ecu code and the date that it was created on , can anyone clear this up

cheers as ever

you need your SKC (secret key code), if you have it then it should be on a tag with your spare key(s).
Im lead to believe that once you have this then reprogramming keys with vagcom is a breeze.

Hi

Sure I read on ukmivs site that you can do this by having one key in ignition but not on! the other key (new one in the door). Best check over there thats as much as I can remember!

aye - key transponder needs to be programmed into car for immobiliser bit, and you can only do this via dealer or vag-com maybe

does anyone know the routine for a mk2 ibiza? the car i just bought has different locks on the doors to the ignition barrel... so 2 keys to use the car. if i getthe same locks and barrel is it possible to program them for next to nothing, cos i arent paying dealers to do something like that! its robbery and costs them nothing

if you dont mind a bit of fiddling (ooer) well actually a fair bit

you can rebuild the barrel to match the ignition key or any key for that matter

may need a few other bits - bit ive done it in the past - easy peesy when you know how - buzz me on msn ill try explain it

aww cant you post it up here?

is it possible to remove the transponder bit from old key and put in the new key u ar rerogramming?

1 - i could but without seeing it in front of ya it would be an absolute mare to understand - ig you have ever rebuilt a VW/SEAT/Ford door lock you will know what i mean by fiddly

2 - YES just be careful not to break it or drop it :)

ps- im in the workshop tomorrow with mine - if i get bored ill take the door lock out and strip it down for some pics to show you what i mean [B)]

yes - didnt realise you were talking about the lock - no i dont want to rebuild that ... just want to build a new flip key from certain parts of my old non-flip key

ie the transponder

by the way - is the W3 stamped on the key blade something to do with the immobiliser ?

why not take apart your spare key, take the immob chip out of it, and put it in the switch blade housing.

i did the exact same thing and it works, you dont need to reprogram it then :)

is this right?, if i change the fob and also take out the clear chips it will work???

I have a key that needs a new fob... it still works but is on its last legs so could do with replacing. i have already brought the correct mhz one but now worried about the immobaliser side of things ....

Any ideas

there are 2 parts to the keys.

the immobliers "chip" which looks like a small magnet.

the alarm/cent. locking "beeper" thing

if yoiu change the beeper, you have to program it to your car. its easy to do, there is a set sequence. (in the book i think)

as ive said above, if you are changing to a new KEY part, you will need to either get the new chip that is in with that key programmed to the immobiliser (ive done it myself in the past) OR remove the chip from an old key of yours, or a spare, and fit it into the new key housing somewhere, anywhere infact.

hope thats some help
