Imagine the sound made by a bycicle when you lift the rear wheel off the ground and spin the wheel in the air by pushing the pedals around..

I have a Cupra pd150 and owned it for four years, just had the 70k service done at the weekend. This is the closest description I can give for the sound my car is making under the following circumstances:

first noticed a few months ago regularly when slowing down to a stop, such as when pulling onto the drive, just a short blip of a sound initially when under no acceleration and revs dropping just before the car stops. I have done some simple tests and now can say that the noise is apparent at approx 1200 revs any more and it dissapears under acceleration as the revs rise.

It sounds like a spinnng or "jangling" sound sort of like the noise described with the bike wheel and if I drive very slowly in 1st gear at 1200 revs the noise is constant. It's going to the dealers on Wednesday anyway for a recall (of which I can't remember what for) but can anyone shed any light on this, should I be worried?

I'm unsure but I may have lost some power mid range, it may be me but the car seems to be driving as if it were standard rather than as it should be..as I say this may be just me though

cheers

oooo sounds like a big job!

is what the dealer will say

is it engine? or wheels? (does it do it stood still reving or only when moving) from your description sounds like moving so could be the hub wheel thing? does it stop when clutch is engage dis-engaged? could be dying.

Or it could be the Turbo... what was done on your last service? I presume you have looked under the bonnet and checked the connections and such...

Don't believe it's the engine, the car runs well still although my average mpg is struggling to reach fourty, and the noise is only noticable when on the move and not in neutral revving to the 1200 rpm level where I hear it.

The dealers didn't call me at work as arranged by 3pm so I called them and although they agreed they had in their words "witnessed the noise" they hadn't actually done anything else as apparently the chap working on my car was pulled off to do something else! so not only do I still not know what it is, they didn't fix my faulty front wipers either...another day with a 50 mile round trip on the bus tomorrow for me then! and no they haven't offerred me a loan car either. Quality service  as this is my 5th Seat and i've been using the same main dealership for about 8 years.

as you can imagine, i'm not too chuffed [:@], but hey ho lets see what tomorrow brings eh!
i'm so peeved at the moment as this is only one of many similar levels of golden service i've received, I feel like sticking 15k on the mortgage and getting and A6 Avant 3.0 D instead, at least my fishing gear will fit and the kids stuff too

they could at least have phoned me to explain, rant over now...need a cup of tea and Syphon's slippers!

ahh the golden age of customer service

I blame the people who tell people they can do anything and then you end up with people in managemnt who cannot actually manage. This is then made worse by the people above them who cannot manage ending up with bad manager being moved around a company until they stop complaining. we can't all be perfect or else we would have nothing to complain about then end up killing each other rather than just a few punches.

anyway I hate MPV drivers ffs I was driving down a very quiet road this morning well icy in my mums Celica (R reg) shes got the worst tyres ever and I was sliding every where and here comes colin mc fin rae behind me in his zafira wtf those things are barely legal yet some idiots drive em like said collin mcrae. Then on my way out of work a even worse minerva decides to pull out on me I was only doing 80 down hill u *****!

gl anyway

About sums up that lot Clive, they have had it too good for too long locally. I'm not a fan of theirs

Hope the car is sorted soon

Oh BTW are you deaf and blind, I was parked along side you at jct 21 (A370) about 3 weeks ago (5.30pm ish) beeping my horn and waving while you stayed in a trance like state staring into the distance........or maybe you did see me and ignored me

Hiya Steve.,

I'm officaially blind now yes, had my first pair of varifocals last week! over 40 now mate so all down hill.

sorry I didn't wave, I must have had things on my mind ?!

Fran took a call from Holders yesterday from a girl called Sally (maybe wrong) anyway she called to enquire about the level of service we received!

Taking the Pi__ mate, and they still have my car. Good job they didn't call me at work. Me thinks that the time is now due for a formal letter of complaint as I have endured so many issues like this from them. They're nice enough people but they don't care! just go through the motions.

anyhows, hope you're good mate, must catch up sometime, and I need to phone Scott too, been meaning too but kids etc...time just dissappears.
me bad:whistle:
Cheers for now
