Actually i dont know what does a differential do.Does it help to prevent skidding or can it help in drag races?

Nice [B)]

The world would be a far more stupid place without the genius that is Wikipedia

Crucially, day-to-day all you'll use an LSD for is drag racing. With big power, and everything tightened up on the drivetrain (coilovers, stiffer engine mounts etc) it'll make powering out of the twisties far more controlled and responsive.

Known as Torsen - Torque Sensing. Using planetry gears to send more torque to the wheel that has grip, as opposed to friction plates that 'lock' to differing pre-determined amounts.

A slippy diff of some sort can be wonderful for helping to address traction out of bends when you would otherwise just spin power away through the inside wheel, but its a lot of money and can have some disadvantages if you are just driving on the road. For day to day driving on the road, the traction control system on the Leon is perfectly adequate (despite the hero's that think turning it off as soon as they get in the car will make them miles faster).

As reg said it can be "risky" on road conditions, the Focus RS proved that with its ATb Diff on it, many found themselves wrap around trees in the back country roads......
But to say in its defence, i have it on mine as i have a TDi and torque raises from like 100Nm to 300Nm in 500rpm, traction can be a problem in corners for me, the ATb diff sorted this all out for me as the usual TCS wasnt helping much on wet roundabouts.....

I really don't think many people have had the torque steer experience of a powerful FWD car with an LSD. Foot to the floor with the front wheels fighting for grip, you can go from one side of the road to the other and back again without turning the steering wheel. Too many people are happy to just welly a car without knowing how and when it's going to bite! Slick, I can imagine it has helped contain all that torque nicely.

Excately what i thought when Ford annonced it onthe Focus RS...

Yep the torque spike is contained into a nice power curve without fuss to the right wheels now... only problem now is, with all that power on the inside wheel, i have to sometimes fight the car to pull AWAY from the turn as with th ATB it pulls you round the corner whipping the steering wheel from your hands!

Had many hairy moments puttin more power into a roundabout and the car starts to aim at the roundabout....:headhurt:

Got round it now... and soon the ARB on the back will pull it back into line a little quicker!;)

I don find my diff torque steers all. Its well worh the money. It is scary when both wheel lose traction and it just violently under steers.

Yeah, but as i said Yumann, Derv power delivers very quickly and in enormous lumps.... so it can steal the wheel if your id-roundabout and you wanna poke the gas alittle more....

Plus also i noticed you have ARBs... next on my shopping list... should sort a few things out...
