question about the trip computer

Have only had the car for about 10 days and the red fuel light has come on with just under a 1/4 of a tank left, is this right?
Also the trip computer says i still have 50 miles to go before i run out of fuel, am i using reserve fuel now because the red light has come on or do you start using reserve fuel when the computer says you have 0 miles left?

my light and audio warning comes on at 20miles i think

Ive driven abit with it saying 0 miles left in the tank so i assume your reserve starts ticking after it says 0

Just keep it full - driving around at the bottom of the tank uses all the bits at the bottom

The miles left on the trip computer is calculated from your driving and economy over the last 50km. So if you've been driving like Miss.Daisy, you'll have more miles left when the warning light comes on. Drive like a nutter and the opposite will apply

Yup - as Rob says!
But I've had to drive with 0 on my miles left indicator before,
managed 22 miles no problem, gave it a good feed when i got to the pump tho!

i've even experienced this "feature". Now i fill up as soon as the light comes on.

You can take some comfort from what BCM and Leigh15 say though, as when the light comes on you do have SOME mileage left, but how much depends on your driving. It's just nice to know the when it comes on you still have the chance to find the nearest garage and fill up
