I have done this mod. I bought 2 gas struts from bestpartstore.co.uk
Part no: 140794 Stabilus lift o mat.
240nm eject force (lifts bonnet perfectly)
length is 602.5mm
stroke is 241.5mm
Also need 4 x 10mm steel ball stud bolts M6 which I bought from eBay.

I made a couple of Steel brackets and fitting it all took 20 minutes.

You will need to trim the foam inserts on each side of the bonnet bracket which was easy enough with a scalpel blade so your bonnet will sit flush when shut.

Hope this helps

Genius, saved a small fortune there! I'll give you £50 if you do it for me? :roflmao:

It seems that most of us haven’t cut the foam as it is so low density, the struts soon make there own space and my bonnet sits fliush.

Here you go, hope this helps.

I have done this mod too.

I ordered from the Russian seller, I had all the parts in the box when I come to fit them.

Thanks for the info ADM! Can you post a picture of the other side of the gas strut?

The boot struts have shot up too. I bought a pair for £26. It seems they are that price, each now. I guess sellers have cottoned on to us lol. Gits

Anyone know of any reason why us Leon owners can't buy the parts from the Golf and fit them? Are we missing the strength in the bonnet?

I can't bring myself to pay £80 for this kit... The Russian seller on eBay is obviously up to speed with the concept of supply and demand

This!

Or can someone with the Russian kit allow us to have the measurements for the gas struts. On the side of the struts should be writing which will give you the extended and unextended length and the amount they can lift in kg?

All that’s needed is the right angle brackets then.
