question for the taller drivers amongst us

Had my FR for 8 months now and I'm buggered if I can get a really comfy driving position! i'm not stupidly tall at a smidge under 6ft with a 33" inside leg. I just don't seem to get enough support under my thigh unless I have the seat so far back that there's virtually no legroom behind me - it almost feels like the seat base should be a bit longer?

is it just me?

I am 6 ft 5 and have no problems what so ever!!

yep its just you, i'm 6ft 4 and find the seats very comfortable with plenty of thigh support. French cars seem to be the worst.

like above, I'm 6ft 3 and Leon is one of the more comfortable cars I've driven. Very very good leg room under steering wheel and I don't need to move seat all the way back leaving room for passengers behind.

Being stupidly tall at 6'9" (With a 38" inside leg - if I remember correctly) I know what you mean. However, the car is the most comfortable I have found so far. I'm guessing the problem you're experiencing is because the pedals are too close hence your knees are too high, putting all the weight and pressure on your backside.

I've thought about modifying it (probably with padding to relieve the pressure), but for me it isn't too much of a problem so I've left it. Things start to ache after 3 - 5 hours of driving (which isn't bad going). Everyone is different though and based on experience nothing regarding good fit and comfort surprises me.

6'1" and super comfy. Just finished a long trip with lots of driving. Short wifey was comfy too

6'4 here an possibly the comfiest car i've ever driven is my fr (well apart from the stiff ride )

My old VXR used to give me real pains in my back, till i ofund out the steering wheels is slightly off centre to the seat.....The FR seats are brilliant though, really comfy and great support!

I am 6' 3" and the Leon feels big for me.

Interesting timing for me on this - I am in Germany this week and at the hotel at Celle this morning, there was a chap there who was so tall, the top of my head never even came to the top of his shoulder. I reckon his shoulder level was 6 foot 5 - definitely the tallest guy I have ever seen and we have a workshop guy with us who is 6 foot 9, and I bet he would have struggled to be at the bottom of this guys head.

Anyway, he drove, yes you guess it, a MK2 Leon and looked to be reasonably comfy in it!

6ft 1 with 34 inch legs here and I've got no problems. But then I have the seat back to the second last notch and never have anyone sitting behind me. I never have in any of my cars, that bit is a no go area! Have to say it's the best fitting car I've ever managed to get into. Drove an Ibiza SC FR the other day and fitted fine in that too.

I'm 6ft 5 and the only comfort issue i have is the back rest of the cupra bucket seats so i made a foam pad that sits on the back rest and is the same shape as the center panel.

and i can't have anybody sitting behind me because the seat is on the last notch and theres no space at all.

I find it very comfortable but I'm average height really - 6ft. Funnily enough my missus (a short-arse by all accounts) finds my Leon much more comfortable seat-wise than her Audi A4 and I agree. Surprising given Audi's 'premium' positioning but I think it shows just how good the Leon seats are. (Apart from the creaking and squeaking, that is.)

Not it's not just you. One of my first posts here was about this subject. Even after four years of Leons, I'm still adjusting the seats.

I'm of average height, and my problem is that, even with the wheel at its maximum reach & height, my legs are bent under the wheel.

One of the reason's I'm driving a Leon is the seat, golf & a3 are just not the same, only other car I can get the seat/driving position right in is a BMW 1 which I think for me is the best seat however, I'm not keen on the harsh ride & price. . .
