Do coil packs just 'go' or can they fail slowly?
The reason I ask is, over the past week I've noticed a slight misfire between 3500-4500rpm, on full throttle but then fine to the redline, today my battery has gave up the ghost so I've charged it to get to work tomorrow and get a new one (I refuse to pay £100 from Halfords, ECP are £45 but closed today) and since putting the battery back on, the car revs freely on, say, 50% throttle but splutters badly on around 75%+ throttle and has the Subaru/3 cylinder sound, I took it for a quick spin and same, it drives fine on part load but floor it and the spluttering continues, I'm also getting a slight popping from the exhaust too
But TBH I can't see why disconnecting the battery would cause this, any ideas?
