Firstly apologies for the silly question but Id previously asked about whereto turn on and of the traffic warning announcements which I was getting on my 66 plate FR someone pointed me to look in the radio settings. I've now noticed that the radio appears to stay on all the time even when I chose different function on the media system display like driving data I turned the volume right down and see the speaker icon with a cross through it which suggests that whilst its muted it is still on. I tried activating sat nav function hoping that by changing the option the radio would automatically be turned off but its still on. couldn't find anything in the useless manual so can anyone tell me how to actually turn it off
pressing the media system power button obviously just turns the hole display and functions off but I want it to show the driving data
must be obvious but I'm missing it :(

I dont think you can do exactly what you're asking. However, you can get the same result by selecting something like bluetooth as the media device. Then there wont be any music playing but the other functions will still work.

Is this what you're looking for?

If you select Media and then mute it you can then select Car and see your Driving data, but you will always see the 'Muted' speaker symbol no matter what screen you select.

If you have a little knob - behave!! - for adjusting the volume, have you tried pressing it?

yes that was the first thing I did as I seemed the logical thing to do but that just then turns the infotainment system and the display off.
when id collected the car I had the driving data displayed on the infotainment screen and no radio on so I know its possible to view the driving data on the screen with the radio off but since pressing the radio tab I haven't been able to turn the radio off If I turn the volume nob down I see a speaker icon with a line through indicating that its muted but its obviously still on ???

You can't actually turn the radio/cd/sd/usb/bt off! You can only select one or the other and then mute it. When you get in the car again it reverts to the preset start up volume and you have to mute again.
A slight annoyance but I can live with it. It's a bit like the light in your fridge... does it really go off when you close the door????

When you say the radio is still 'on' do you mean you can still hear it or are you on about the display? If it is the latter, it is normal. When the infotainment centre is 'on' it will show the radio if you select that tab. Likewise the cd, if you turn the volume right down it pauses the CD.

Justto clarify Kazand I set the infotaunment screen to display driving data but I see the sound icon with a line through it as I've turned the volume right down I know the radio is still on because if I turn the volume up it plays when I picked up the car the sound icon was never displayed when I was viewing other data on the infotainment screen so I know Their Is a way of turning the radio off so no sound icon is displayed but I just cant find out how to turn it off. and its starting to bug me now

Can you select a programme that has nothing attached, i.e. One of the inputs for iPod? Then there is nothing to produce sound and then you can select whatever data you require without another symbol, to be honest I only use the main screen for nav and use the centre display for all else I may want.

thanks Walone and Martin j. selecting a different source like aux and then going back to select driving data seems to have done the trick no speaker icon now only the driving data and te time is displayed where the icon was so all good

There is also a start-up volume setting in the media centre but it had never worked for me and so the radio always comes on on starting the car even if the last used media was a blank sd card in the governor unit.

I find this very annoying indeed but it is the only workaround I have found and that is not brilliant either
