Evening folks,

Got a rather irritating issue with the Toledo(had it since day 1 tbh) that I'm hoping someone can help with.

The reception through the radio is GUFF!! Now granted 75% of the time I listen to my iPod but sometimes you just wanna stick the good ol wireless on but it is no use! Its always sounding as if its not receiving a strong enough signal.

Would the nice wee 'bee sting' ariel that on the car be the route of this or something else?

Help would be appreciated! cheers

Not that it helps you much, but I've heard this is a common problem with the Toledo and I suffer the same. Sometimes its fine but other times I receive nothing, whereas my old Astra would normally get a reasonable signal most of the time. I have an aftermarket stereo fitted, and am not certain I connected the amplified aerial correctly; though I don't know what else I could have done.

If you have an aftermarket stereo you need a power supply for the aerial base. Its the size of a spliff and plugs into the rear of the stereo and powers the aerial base via the coax cable. They're made by Autoleads halfords / ebay

The base itself could also be faulty, I had to replace the base on my Octavia

so....I've just taken out the radio to fit the booster cable and discovered that there is already one fitted :wtf:

My next port of call is to swap the aerial out for a standard one off my mates ibiza...fingers crossed!

Some are different than others, some have 2 connectors for radio and satnav? the mast screw threads are different sizes

this is what I came across when I took the stereo out...the one I got from eBay was very similar with a blue wire rather than green.

I dot think my v5 had satnav as it's only a single din space on the dash...my mates "beefa" certainly doesn't

My octavia doesn't have sat nav but my aerial was dual satnav and radio. My base was faulty and I replaced it to find the mast didn't fit due to fiffering thread size.

Just a heads up before you fit, try the mast in the thread.

Swapped the aerial from my mates ibiza onto the Tolly...readio works fine! Seems there is a wee small (about 5mm) 'plug' on the end of the aerial that the bee sting doesnt have :(

Now to find me a standard aerial to replace it with

I will have to try one of those adaptors as i have had the same poor reception with my aftermarket head unit.
Bought an adaptor for £5 from halfords back when the world cup was on last and it was rubbish.
Halfords are only good for their occasional offers.
I avoid the place like the plague now.

But good topic i will have to try this fix. Any other success stories?
