Radio volume - am I going mad?

I have a query and just wondered if anyone else has experienced this...

My radio volume adjusts itself by small amounts, either up or down. I have tried various things to see what the cause is.. ie accelerating, climate control on or off.. nothing seems to be the cause, it tends to be random.

Today, when I was in a queue of traffic I am sure the volume went down a smidge and my headlights dipped...

I drive a Ibiza Cupra.. can anyone help my sanity?

Hi, claire radio's do come with a automatic volume thing... the quicker you get the computer turns the volume on the sterio up and when you go slower it de-creases... but i dont know if thats the problem you have or not it could be reflected.....

Try turning that function off to see whether it's that which is causing the volume fluctuations. I can't remember which setting it is though as I took my Alana out a few weeks after I got the car.

Ah cheers for the advice guys.. will have a look in the manual and see if that is the problem... (which is probably where I should have looked first! Though you lot are always much more informative )

Guys! You are superstars... just had a look in the manual.. selecting PTY and scrolling though, my scv (volume proportional to speed) was set to low turned it off and had a quick blat round the block.. YAY it worked...

So, it seems I was going a bit mad as the speeding up slowing down didn't seem to work when I was testing it previously!

i think its a great idea. it saves you turning the volume up and down all the time.

not driven a petrol version but my ibiza pretty quiet at speed so not really nessasery!

LOL this thread is useful.... I have the same issues but i couldnt be arsed to read the manual.... Never got round to searching for the solution but have now found it here.

I guess in theory I can see the plus side, though like me, if you didn't even know it existed it just became a worry!

i think i turned mine off the same day i got it.... but it does drown out the wind noise a little more.. as mine is terrible now i took my wind deflectors off and sound system out.....

I hate it when my boyf is driving, we live by lots of country lanes I have to cover my eyes when something approaches the other way... whilst shouting "Don't scratch my car!" hee hee
