Somewhere towards the rear of the car there is a bad rattle and I can't figure out where from :(
I sounds like a kind of plastic on glass rattle, but that's just a guess. I've had the boot trim off and secured everything, but still got no idea where its coming from.

ANyone else had a rattle from the rear and sorted it?

Mine used to rattle between the boot catch on the body and the rear hatch. I put some tape around the main spindle part that the boot catch hooks around and it stopped. Worth a try!

Mine was doing this as well. Seat actually did something for a change and moved the boot catch so that the boot shut tight. It was really an annoying noise before but is silent now.

Yeah, will do.
I've wrapped some electricians tape around the spindle part, but it made no difference. I'm not convinved this is the source of my rattle though. I'm going to look into it further when I get some time because it drives me nuts when I'm driving!! I haven't drivien the car since Friday, and I don't think I'm going to drive it again until next weekend, but I'll keep you posted if I find anything.

This was my mission for the weekend!
I have had a really bad rattle for the past 2 months and it has now started to squeak on hard bumps....very irritating :(

Anyway spent a couple of days stripping out the back and bolting it all back in only to find that the rattle is still there!!!!!! :banghead2

I might try and wrap the tape around that spindle and see if it helps.

Keep us updated Garth as this is driving me crazy! :headhurt:

Woohoo! :)
Just sorted it.

The problem, would you believe it, is the plastic mountings on each side of the hatch that the rear screen heating elements plug into.

I can take pics if people don't understand. I can't believe something so small can create so much noise!!

I'm supergluing mine in :D That should keep 'em still :D

What, like the sound of a spanked arse ?
:D
It was kind of like a tapping on glass kind of noise. High pitched rattle. Gone now though

I've got this as well :censored:

Presumed it was the boot catch not engaging properly but couldn't see any way of adjusting it.

Found out it was actually the plastic trim inside the tailgate squeeking/rattling on the bodywork. (Made my dad sit in the back to listen and try and pinpoint it :D )
Tightening the boot catch would propably fix it.

Every couple of weeks i go mental with a can of silicon spray on all offending parts and all sounds stop for 10-14 days

Gonna have another look at the weekend i think. Cheers guys, i thought i was losing the plot with these bloody boot rattles.

Annoying rattle noise!

Yeah mine does this too, apparently its the parcel shelf rubbing against the back window, so my boyfriend says! The best thing to do is turn the music up loud, that should solve the problem, and its ideal for when your cruising!!

Danz x :)

Unlikely to be the parcel shelf rubbing against the window as the parcel shelf is covered in carpet! Never heard carpet make a rattle!

Here you go then, it's the small black plastic trim that is circled in red. They were rattling about because they are fairly loose. (both sides of the boot).

I secured mine with a small blob of glue and there's no more rattle now :)
