Had the same noise on my Cupra TDI since new (57 plate). Happens mainly when turning corners over rough ground. More of a clunking metallic thud.

Had it checked over when in for another job and they said some of the front suspension was not torqued up correctly. It seemed fine for a week but then came back. Having it looked at when it gets it's first service in a couple of weeks.

I knew that wouldn't work, cus i've had all my bushes done as well. Sound like its coming from within the dash. Wonder if it is the something to do with the wiper motor.

remove the spare wheel and tools from the boot to see if it's that
then fold down the back seats to see if it's that
then open the tailgate and thunp it with the palm of your hand to see if there is anything loose inside it
then give your exhaust a goot waggle to make sure thats not clacking on anything under the car
if it's still doing it I would say you have a rear suspension problem

Hope you get this sorted, I have a plastic sounding rattle seems to be from behind the glovebox. Went out with a SEAT techie who heard the sound. Picked it up sat morn but prob still there, and was closing so couldn't be bothered taking it back in, but deffo not the roll bar/bushes mine, it's trim I think or a small loose part behind the dash somewhere. Dammed if I'm taking the dash apart on a 9 month old car! Just cant be arsed leaving it a day. If i find the prob myself, I'll let ya know mate!

hi folks. done dozens of noisy ibizas in our dealership, this one has me scratching my head. usual culprits are front arm rear bush, antiroll bar (not just bushes, check the locators arent broke off the bar), rear shocks, rear axle (rubber lube on the bushes sorts it), trim above the pedals, rear engine mount steady bar. . . . . only unusual one ive had is where the rear folding seat pivots to fold down flat. there is a sliding catch over the pivot to allow for complete removel of the backrest. id be intersted to know how this one ends up.

have you checked for a broken front spring? springs and strut mounts are also very common to fail, as is the rear engine mount. otherwise its back to antiroll bar bushes or front arm bushes. we usually apply special SEAT lube to the rubber suspension bits front and back to stop squeaks - its really just bog standard rubber grease but it helps lol

My Cupra TDI is in the Seat stealership at the moment having the very same issue checked out. Like a loud rattle/knocking noise when you go over bumps mainly on corners at slow speeds.

Will update when I get it back on Monday. Suspect it will be arb bushes.

P.S. Can't get over how much body roll there is on the 1.2 courtesy car i have for the weekend!

your car in the workshop over the weekend???? pity you dont live in Northern Ireland - we keep all the bits in stock and pre-order any bits we think we might need at the time of booking. suppose thats the difference between stealerships and dealerships lol

The knocking is not normally the rubber arb bushes. For some reason on Ibiza arbs plastic retainers are used at either end of the bar next to the bushes to hold it firmly in place. These plastic retainers are rubbish and are prone to cracking and falling off (which was the case with my car)

When they do fail the bar is free to slide about and one side of it knocks against the sub frame. When I removed my old arb a section of it was grazed where it had been hitting the sub frame. Skoda have resolved this problem on the fabia by redesigning the bar with metal retainers that are welded in place and won’t corrode and split.

Just changing the arb bushes will not get rid of the knocking. What you need is the revised fabia vRS arb. The arb costs about £60 direct from skoda and comes with new bushes. :)

Thanks for the info. Is it easy enough to fit myself or should i get Seat to fit it do you think? It might be worth getting Seat to do it actually to keep the warranty valid.
