i just wanted a quicker start tbh and was really thinking about doing this i know people on here have done it (dave Cymru etc) and i know cgti love it too. i wasnt planning to do much to the ibiza just probably do this and thats it, just had a few questions on the topic;

1. if i have it lightened 3.94 can i still use the motorways comfortably?

2. what is the overall cost of it? i know the actual lightening is £60-70 ...but (see i dont know where exactly the flywheel is outside or inside the gearbox?) how much did/would it cost to take off the flywheel get the gearbox rebuilt and to put it back on?

3. what would the 0-60 decrease to?

4. would i need to do anything else if i do this? i presume sports clutch and rebuild the gearbox ...but anything apart from that?

thank you.

i'm thinking about it to mate, changing the clutch and lightening my flywheel. A guy on edition38 called RWD19T who does them for £80 on an exchange basis

gna get mine in the new year :D

Question 1 seems a little muddled, are you thinking of just lightening the flywheel or going for a 3.94 final drive as well?

its the gear ratio of the last cog in the box as far as i'm aware, means that you'd be revving the engine more to maintain the same speed but you'd get there quicker.

It seems like a mod only suitable for weekend/trackday toys, lightening the flywheel would improve the acceleration from a standstill but will impact going up hills etc

To be honest i'm not entirely sure i've got the right end of the stick with all this i'm just going from what i've read and remembered on here, someone should be along soon to correct me/fill in the gaps :D

Hotgolf on cgti will do the flywheel for you... he's done a lot on the cgti forum! He can also rebuild the gearbox to!

The cost depends if you get a new or used 3.94 finial drive! I paid £220 odd from VW because I couldn't be arse to source a box get it striped to get the final drive and then get mine rebuilt with the final drive fitted then knowing the luck I have it will be a **** final drive.

it shortens the ratios.... so you get a bit slower in each gear but will go thru the gears quicker and going into corner when you find 2nd is too high and 3rd is too low, well that is solved!

Prices look on this thread and infor to what parts will need replacing and part numbers are here http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=129924&highlight=3.94+final+drive (Amazing that search button is, isn't! :))

As for the flywheel you half the weight when you lighten it but it still weights a fair bit so torque on hills as kai 1600 was on about isn't efforted that much!
