rear brake assembly problem

The mistery of the remaining spring

After changing the rear bearings of my 1995 Ibiza, I discovered a loose spring coming from the brakeshoes. Is a long thin spring without any hooks. So it is not locating spring nor the lower/upper return spring, but it's as long as the locating spring. Haven't figured out how to attach a picture http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/images/smilies/crying.gif

Any help would be appreciated.

does the spring have anything at the end of it? like a little right angled kink?

probably to hold the mechanism together..... not explaining myself well, but I think the haynes manual has good coverage

No there is nothing at the end of the spring. I have Elsawin but this doesn't go back as far as the 1995 models. None of the later models have this spring looking at the drawings.

Looks like I have to take of the brakes on the other site.

Thanks
