Rear Brake Set Upgrade Gone Wrong

Hi All,

I have a 2016 Seat Alhambra and decided to upgrade the brake calipers and discs to that of the Cupra. I only got as far as installing the rear calipers and discs and then bleeding the rear brakes. (Front discs are welded on so will deal with this separately).

The rear brakes work as they should, I have an issue with the electronic parking brake in that when applying them, it does not hold either rear wheel. You can hear the motors turning when pulling up the switch.

The motor is different to the stock motor.

Another thing that's strange is the third error, I've started and ended the brake change using VCDS successfully.

The errors from VCDS are below:

Short of undoing all the work, are there any suggestions?

Fortunately the car is an automatic so I can stick in in P.

Thank you

This is the reason. I should connect the old calipers ( iff you can get it don with the one you installed) and put something between the blocks and close brakes with vcds and see iff you fault is going away. The car stil thinks you are busy to change the blocks.

You need to hear the calipers going to close the electronic brake to close and firm is a few times and then its done. The motors are nog to far away and can use the handbrake.

Hi Antera,

Thank you for your reply.

I didn't mention above sorry, activating the hand brake has nil clamping force, I can turn the wheels by hand.

Are you saying to connect the caliper off the car and then exit the brake change procedure?
As in plug the motor cable into the old caliper, don't actually fit the old caliper.

I did start and end the brake procedure successfully in VCDS a few times already.

Thank you

I will go an check now - will report back.

I can't recall last night if there was any noise, I was in a bit of a state!

Did you here the brakes calipers moving and get ferm a few times? The car says it not done yet.
Yes, they did. I put the car on charge, disengaged the EBP (not that it was holding anyway), then went into VCDS and started the change liners process. Motors on, assume they are winding back.

I then ended the process, motors winding again for quite a while and then completed.

It's as if the motor is maxed out and can't travel any further. It doesn't make sense, I'm thinking of removing the motor and manually enabling the EBP (using and E12 socket turning anti-clockwise).
