hi, coming into the cold weather ive tried to turn on my rear demister but it wouldnt work, i havent tried to use it for a long time but switch lit up and fuse was ok so today i removed rear trim and one of the electrical pads has been ripped off the glass, i think this has happened when i got the windows tinted as i can see no other way that it wouldve came off like this, tried soldering it back on but the actual pads on the screen itself have been ripped off so nothing left to solder the connection too 
anybody had to get the rear glass replaced on the mk1? did you get it done yourself or through insurance? and did the demister work fine afterwards?
