Rear Washer Leaking into Boot Help

Ive experienced this before with the ibiza but im having problems removing the trim from the LCR which I thought it was the same as the ibiza. I removed the 2 screws in the inner handles, I removed the caps covering the lights and I thought all you had to do was pull down hard and it pops off. Ive tried doing this with two people pulling down and its not budging. Is it different to the ibiza? am i missing a screw i meant to remove?

There's about 6 clips and they're VERY strong. However the plastic trim is not. Are you sure it's coming from inside the boot trim and not from the washer pipe join up inside the rear 3/4 panel?

Yea its definatly the washer pipe. I thought it was in the same place as the ibiza?

its coming from the latch bit and the trim near that mate

Definitely in the boot lid then - that plastic trim is a pain to remove, i think most people lose a few clips - the unlucky ones actually snap the trim where the clips go into the metal of the boot lid. I snapped mine and it took a stupid amount of force to remove it!

Is there no easier way? The thing that concerns me is where the boot trim connects to the peice around the glass and top brake light. Is it connected or does it just slide off that?

It does just slide off once those 2 screws are out... but is a real swine to do. With a bit of caution (and skin protection) you should be able to slide your hand/arm in behind the trim and ease it all away. Beware flying clips.

you have to unclip the main large section first by prizeing the trim from the clips with a srewdriver, get someone to support it when its all off so it doesn't snap off the thin section around the glass. then go around the glass and unclip it. once you have a few off it will get easier, mine just fell off in the end. when you have it off you will probably find the pipe has just popped off pop it back on but don't just leave it like that as i did cos it will come off again very soon!! i stripped one of the cores out of some electrical wire and used it as locking wire, just wrap it around the raised edges you will see where i mean, i also taped it!
you will probably break a few clips everyone does but before you put it back in just spread the remaining clips out. install it the reverse to how it came out.... it is even harder to get it back in! just as a thorght because it is so cold out at the moment, if you can get it in a garage and let it warm up the plastic wont be so cold and brittle, cos you are more likely to break cold plastic!! have fun hope this helps

Mine did this - most likely to be the brass tube that runs through the spindle to the washer jet. The lubrication gets washed away/dries up over time and the tube corrodes and fractures.

Your looking at a new washer motor unless you like fiddling and you can find some replacement tube.

To get the tailgate trim off is easy if you remove the two light clusters - you can see between the panel and carefully prise them apart.

A bit hassly but you don't break your trim panel

Does the washer spray (when working) just spray out 1 line or does it turn round with the blade to wash the whole window??

when working it sprays out one line. it comes out the base of the rear wiper

I have just noticed this problem in mine, but it is my left wheel well that is soaking wet and you can see the washer fluid dripping out behind the rear wheel from outside the car. Uncle fester, is this the easier of the two fixes~?
how do i get to the join in the pipe behind the rear 3/4 panel?
is there a pipe that has just come off? help would be greatly appreciated as with this weather i kind of need the rear washer!!! thanks

I had this both in my boot lid, and then the trim over the rear passenger side wheel. The rear trim is a pain to get off, but it's worth doing it to repair the washer. Personally, I used a small jubilee clip to keep the hose in place. No probs since.

Like I said, I had a leak in the same place. I did a search on here and found out how to remove the trim. Again, a jubilee clip here did the job. I'm looking to replace my Leon for a TDi, so I've made sure I've still got a stock of jubilee clips. You never know.

i will give you a tip ,remove the tail lights on the tailgate and get a pair of piers to grip the spring clips shut and this will help remove the black trim

hw much is a washer motor?

A genuine from SEAT is about £80 I think. I had the brass tube issue with mine and was told I need a new motor but you can get a repair kit from vagparts.

What a mare!

I read your posts on taking off the plastic boot cover to access the wiper motor, at what a nightmare! Thank god for this forum, otherwise I would have broken every single popper.

I had to take mine off as the tube to the motor for the washer fluid had come off, it took me an hour of extreme patience to get it off. 30 seconds to fix the problem and 25 mins getting the bugger back on..

Be fore warned, if your not an expert car diy'er, the a garage to do it! Otherwise your going to break something!

There is a repair kit available, look on vagparts.com in their shop under the Audi A3, the kit is suitable for quite a few of the VAG range.

Also there is a well documented fix but I forget which forum it was posted on, it was either vwvortex.com or audi-sport.net. Do a search.
