Hey all, looking for someone to help me shed some light on my problem.

since i got the car there's been some light swirling on the bonnet, it's not really bothered me until i took it to the local carwash during the winter and they've obviously taken a nice dirty sponge to it and made some pretty heavy swirls!

i've tried using G3 Scratch remover with a waffle pad but that hasn't helped at all, can someone tell me a good polish for swirls and maybe a decent technique for removing them? would be greatly sppreciated!!
 
3M Fastcut plus - works well on harder VAG paints.

You'll need a machine polisher too - Ideally a rotary for faster results.

Or take your car to a proffesional detailer.

However Gtechniq P1 is apparently great! AutoGlym SRP has lots of fillers and isn't terribly abrasive. Gtechniq P1 is definitely more aggressive.



However end of the day, you're better off paying a local detailer to give it a once over with the DA/Rotary polisher...or perhaps take the opportunity to invest in your own? It's like £100ish, and you'd spend 1/2-3/4 of that by employing a detailer...

As mentioned above a machine polisher in the right hands will work wonders. Been down the same route as you, and ended up investing in one. Go on Detailingworld.co.uk and read up, there is tons of info...
 
Gtechique P1 may be too light if you got heavy swirling and RDS. It all depends on what level of correction you want. As Liam said 3M Fast Cut is quite strong but I would not recommend this if your not an experienced detailer.

I am sure there are detailers around your way. If you cannot locate one, buy yourself a dual action polisher and either megs 83 or Menzerna Intensive Polish. A decent polishing pad and you should be ok.

As mentioned above do lots of reading.

Get yourself a couple of polishing and finishing pads for your DA and a medium and heavy cut polish. Menzerna are a good start for inexperienced users as they work for a decent period of time and finish down well to reduce the need for refining the finish further.

Dont be afraid of the DA... yes they can give the same level of correction as a rotary machine but it takes longer so you have more time to notice if things are going pear shaped. I would never recommend a rotary of any sort to a newbie... too much risk in making the paint worse.

As someone else said, have a look on DetailingWorld under the guides section, there are hundreds of very experienced people on there if you are worried / struggling.
