Hi guys, I'm enjoying driving my new (to me) Leon FR and find the single disc a bit limiting. I guess I should go mp3.

I was wondering what make and model of MP3 people use? I don't really have the budget for an Apple branded product.

hey sk4tec... what year leon have you got?? have you got an USB or just an AUX port?

If you have got an USB, i would just get a cheap 3, 8 or even 16 GB flash drive and drag and drop your music on that

sorry to boast I have an ipod so therefore really dont have a clue on MP players as i have not brought one for years

Really good tiny MP3 is the Sandisk Sansa Clip+. About £30 for the 8Gb version, but you can add a microSD card - so I now have 40GB on mine. It does the normal MP3 formats, but also high-quality lossless FLAC, which sad audiphiles like me prefer.

One tip for using it though - particularly with headphones - is to select region=US, not Europe. If you select Europe, it puts a volume limiter on, which is chronic.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Just wondering what happens when I plug an MP3 player through the AUX port. I presume that the car stereo will treat this like an audio line-in and that the stereo won't be able to control (play, skip etc) the MP3 player. Not sure if there's much point in doing that as I can't see myself fiddling with a tiny mp3 player selecting tracks.

I'm wondering if its better that I go down the re-writeable CD route? Least the stereo controls will work??

You need a stereo with a USB port if you want to use the steering wheel controls to play/stop/skip tracks and so on. In which case, just a USB stick full f MP3's will do.

i have one of the new ipod nanos in mine. used to have a ipod classic that i bought second hand off ebay for £60. You can then buy the ipod lead for about £15 off ebay, and all your tracks will come up on the stereo :)

Hi Wimbledonian,

Just wondering if you have your Sansa Clip+ connected through your USB port? I can't seem to get my 2009 FR CR Tdi to recognise the device? Just wondering if you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Kevyla.:)

Will the CD player recognise an mp3 cd?

You could fit quite alot of mp3's onto a 700mb CD should see folders etc...

Have got the MP3 player working now. It was to do with setting the USB mode to MSC on the device and files, but I won't bore you with all the details... :)
