Red oil light

Hi,

Probaly a stupid question, but when i turn key to ignition not start up i get all the display light up like normal but i never noticed the red circle light by the temp gauge come on then go when all the other lights go out, is the normal or am i being paranoid.

I think the one you're talking about is for if the car overheats or the coolant level is low and it doesn't come on with the ignition, just flashes and beeps when there's a problem.

It doesnt flash or beep, just never noticed it before when i turn to ignition and then go off with the other lights and read somewhere before about red and yellow lights meaning something on start up?.

its for coolant
check level and clean prongs

does the gauge still climb to 90 and stay steady at 90?

Funny you say that, my temp gauge hits 90 and then drops, and then shoots back up to 90, this is when driving and idle.

Mine doesn't even work at the mo, it's an electrical connection or broken wire for me though but just need to get round to sorting it.

You've got a knackered thermostat then.

Get it changed, as it will affect performance and fuel economy. Should stay at 90 all the time.

Sorry to go of subject slightly but I had the three beeps and flashing coolant light come back last night.

Now I know the first instance was cause by the prongs in the header tank. I scrapped them and it went away. Should it come back this soon, if at all?
I’m going scrape them again when I get back from work but just wondering if there is anything else I should watch out for?

Try scraping them again, if it fails a new bottle is less than £20 iirc.
