...right so finally getting round to refurbing my alloys. decied on the colour and going for an anthractire colour all round, think it will go really well with the silver of the car.

only problem is, the car will need to be off the road for about 3 days for the process, i either need a really cheap set of wheels or perhaps to borrow a car for a few days>?

i was wondering what others did when getting their wheels refurbed? also what sort of price? and..if someone has a spare set of wheels i can buy/loan/borrow/steal

been quoted about £200 for all 4...this is just sanded and then painted and laquered...this is with tyre off...so inside and out..

and about £230 for all 4...but this is powedercoated...not up to scratch on the differences but have heard powder coating is better...

do these prices sound reasonable?

i take it they are the set of wheels that came on the car
because other wise just use ur old ones ans sorry dont have any u can borrow :(
and as for the prices i dont know but they sound ok
or you could do them urself it isnt hard just alot of sanding

A lot of people buy a cheap set of steelies, and use those while geting the aloys refurbed.

Sounds like a standard price to me, generaly about £50 per corner. I would go for the powder coating at that price - it will last much longer and should give a better finish if done properly.

yea they are the standard 17" mk4 ibiza alloys...just been looking on ebay for a really cheap set, steels would be fine!

prices i thought sounded ok, but i have nothing to compare them too

Could try a scrap yard for a cheap set of steelies. Dont need to worry about the state of tyres or anything then as you are only using them for a few days.

nice one..thats a good idea. what size would i need, guess it would just have to be 5 stud thats all

you can have my old wheels if you want? when i got my alloys theyve just been gathering dust and i cant find a buyer so i dont mind giving em you mate if you dont mind picking em up. im in the midlands

you could always get one wheel done at a time and run around with your spare wheel on untill all four are done.

hope this helps you out

dont no how long you can afford to be without your car for but i have recently had mine done by thewheelspecialist. Did a fantastic job of mine they strip the whole alloy down to the bare metal before powder coating plus it only takes a single day. i took my car in for 8 in the morning and were done by half 3, just depends if you can afford to leave it for that time.

where is the wheel specialis, sounds really good time scale! how much did you pay

i was quoted £221 that was for the paint being done as well as the tyres being taken off, put back on and then rebalanced. theyve got a few centres across the country, i live near manchester so i went to that one they have got a website you should check it out

arr ya joking, would of fort that would of bin one of the places they had a centre at n all. sorry matey

no worries.....its all up NORFFF!! hahaha..only one in south and that fareham in hampshire..think i have found somewhere localish...will do them for about 200...just need other wheels now to swap them with

will do!!! will most 5 stud wheels fit on my car? will the wheels have to be 15/16/17"?

just about to contact some breakers now

yeah i would think any 5 stud fitment should fit they should be pretty standard. try get a set of steel wheels just so u wont be paying alot just so u can use em for a few days while you get your rims refurbed

yea thats all i need them for.....simply for a few days whilst my rims get refurbed...literally 2-3 days so tyres arent that much of an issue either.

hoping to pay next to nothing really..like 20-30 quid? is this realisitc?
