Remap options for 20VT (180 bhp)

Hi,

I'm curious about getting a remap for my 20VT Cupra (not the 'R'). It is all stock.

From what I can, a typical ECU-only remap would add about 20 bhp. What sort of performance difference am I actually going to notice from this? I've never had a car remapped before, you see...

For the more advanced remaps, what items of the engine am I needing to consider replacing for them to be viable? At what cost?

Custom Code seem to be getting some good recommendations from when I've been searching some threads. Last time I looked into this it seemed Revo ruled the roost...

Thanks,

Tris.

I can understand why a remap would help (Stage 1). However, why would a new DV and air filter make such a difference? Should these be purchased and fitted prior to the remap for best results? (I presume any good dealer offering remaps would fit them at the same time if desired....)

Good to hear that there is a clear difference. Mmm, tempting, tempting...

New DV, will alow the boost to run higher, as the new remap will force higher boost, and the stock DV has a rubber diaphram which will split eventually.... The 007p uses a metal piston, which wont. Gives a much nicer sound as well.

Airfilter, higher air flow, that alone may add 3bhp (wahoo) lol.... but the stage1 map is usually set to work with those mods along side it.

Many thanks for the update. Is this the DV which I sometimes read about being put in the 'wrong' way round to change the sound? My memory may be hazy...

Only other thing to consider would be a silicone turbo inlet hose to replace the rubber one. Main reason is for longevity (same as the DV) but I'll let you know whether it makes a performance difference when I get it changed during my service.

There's 2 that are used by people here..

007p and Split-R...

The Split-R one is the one that I think you have to do backwards... and causes re-circ problems.

The 007p seems to be the weapon of choice, and is very easily fitted.

But I may be wrong.

That is also some thing you may wish to change, as the higher boost levels, can cause the stock TIP (Turbo intake pipe) to collapse and split.

Agreed... mines remapped and I also have a Thundercat :D

 OT - might be getting rid of mine, I mainly ride the GSXR but kept the Cat as the GSXR is no place for my wife to be pillion but the Cat on the other hand is great for that - just can't seem to get her on the damn thing anymore so not much point keeping it  Top bike.

Custom Code is really good. I had mine remapped after fitting full Piper exhaust system/ Split R DV and green cotton filter - wow!

The only probs i've had is its a bit temperamental if you dont get the power in at the right times and 1st gear can be a bit jumpy, other than that great power

Had no rolling road yet but i'd imagine she is around 220/230bhp now

Cant see you getting anything over 220bhp with your current mods mate.

i had mine done the first week i bought the car.while the guy was there i got them to fit a panel pipercross filter and forge dv and that was my stage one sorted.i know its a lot of money but worth it and when u get exhaust and other things the ecu learns
where abouts are you from???
what sort of power are you looking ??
you could wait and get
dv
filter
exhaust,decat or sports cat
manafold i think
front mount inter cooler
and if you have a ko3s on your motor all ready then go stage 2;);)

but you will notice the difference
