Mine chucks out a LOT of smoke - I've got to clean the soot off the back every 150 miles or so.
Mines got an Allard VT2 turbo & their remap.

Ditto that...

Last time I spoke to Lloyd he wanted me to go back down there to have the map tweaked. It's smoked horrendously since Allard did the work, tho saying that my previous turbo blew, and I lost most of the car's oil down through the exhaust. Took a couple of months to fully clear... Now it soots a little if I fully boot it on boost through the rev range, and as would be expected, soots a lot if off boost.

Problem is... I've almost grown to like it! Having a black car probably helps tho...

Have you tried using BP Ultimate or similar.

When i picked my car up a few weeks ago it used to chuck out a lot of black smoke when i booted it but since i filled up with BP Ultimate the black smoke has completely gone, now all i get is a bit of white / grey smoke when i boot it and i had it remapped last week.

White/greyish smoke is deffo not a good sign on a TDI engine....hope there's no problems there...

Even a standard TDI will put out a bit of (black) smoke - it's perfectly normal...even more so after remap. Altough if the tailpipes are pointed down I see no reason for having soot in the back of the car. Mine doesn't and puts out "healthy" black smoke at wot! :)

Thanks for your help everyone.

I've emailed my local Revo dealer and they advised me that they haven't had anyone who has experienced my problem after a Revo. They also advised that if I had mine Revo'd and experienced any issues they would be happy to return it to stock and refund me.

"Smoking" is also very subjective....for instance some people say that my Golf puts out just a bit of soot at wot, but I feel I'm driving pretty much a freight-train sometimes...

I've had a phase 3 done too and mine smoke too much, took it back to Lloyd he calmed it down a bit but still smokes fairly hard when nailing it, anyone got any tips on how to calm it down a bit more???

2 options....take down the power or give the map a little more boost and even increase a bit the power at the expense of turbo reliability.
On my Golf I opted to have a nice power output and a bit "healthy" black smoke along, since reliability is fulcral for me. The extra fuelling (smoke) can also help in reducing a bit the EGT's... But I could have the same power output smokless pretty easly if I opted to turn up the boost a bit (and decrease turbo reliability)...

No miraculous solutions!

Cheers trqster, I might have a word with Lloyd and see what he thinks I'm running the turbo at about 2.1 BAR at last check, he thinks it can run to 2.5 but as you said more risky for the turbo.

My turbo is only running at around 1.9 / 2 bar, and it seems to be pushing enough air to burn all the fuel at full throttle, with only a small amount of puffy smoke coming out - which I can only see at night with a following car. I think Allards VT5 does push a higher volume of air for a given pressure, so it seems to be more efficient when it comes to the smoke thing.

Historically I have had some serious smoke, but that was with Allards VT2 (fair bit smaller) and a different mapper.

Why's that then?? Surely if you get more cold air running into the engine your going to see results rather than the standard air filter sucking up hot air from the engine bay?

I thought cold air was good and hot air was bad.

Cold air induction kit has got to be better than standard?

Tom

Location, location, location.

The induction kit is not located near a cold air feed, its next to a hot engine.

The panel filter gets its air from down that air feed pipe which is away from the engine.

Correct me if i am wrong.

I don't know mate, I thoght thats why some inductionkits come with a carbon fibre surround to stop hot air coming through
