Remapping

Hello Guys/Girls,

I have owned my Seat Leon Cupra R now for just over a year and am craving a little bit more horsepower!

From what i understand the standard chip takes you from 225bhp to approx 275bhp; is this correct?

What kind of questions should i be asking? I believe there are different kinds of chip e.g. power at low-level rpm/high-level rpm etc. Is this correct?

What kind of cost should i be looking at?

Would you recommend any other upgrades to go along with a chip?

I would appreciate any recommendations/suggestions/general advice etc. that anyone can provide me when it comes to thinking of getting a chip.

P.S. For recommendation purposes i am based in South West London!

ye search for remapping an LCR or similar

dont think many go for a chip as such alwas about remapping , start reading up on what you want ,

as you said power low down or higher up etc

also look in the readers rides for what others have done

depends on your bufget , to what you can change

i would change what you can before a remap to get full effects

Thanks for the replies.
I guess i shouldn't have took the lazy option of creating a new thread and should have browsed exisitng ones instead!

Your Leon does'nt require a chip as such as these are only required on some older ECU's which cannot be reprogrammed or remapped, it's a remap that you're after. When you say different types you are referring to agressive or progressive which is down to the driver's personal driving style, I went for Custom-Code which is more progressive. As for other mods you could do with a higher flowing airfilter and uprated diverter valve.

Sorry i meant remapping... wrong choice of words!

What kind of cost are we talking then?

Also i think progressive would suit me more... blame the already heavy right foot!

Funny how i have read only one thread and already changed my mind as i now want aggressive (not really planning on track days etc).

Also it seems like it is best to stick with one of the well known companies.

Try AmD Essex, thay are next to Lakeside.
They do there own AmD map which is more of a "Progessive" map and REVO which more "agressive"

My boss at work previously bought BSR software to tune his old Saab. I did a quick search on their website and they do a program for a LCR. He said an advantage of doing this is you can simply program your car and then de-program (word?) when it comes to selling/servicing etc. What do you think of this idea?

I don't think much of this idea at all, stick with the big names that have the experience and have done the development. I've seen many Jap cars destroy their engines with crap maps. In fact I've got one very non plussed mate who's car is currently at Scooby Clinic with the spanners round it because of a cheapo remap.

Are revo still giving away sps switches with all remaps. Might be worth looking in to.
Not that mine gets used much the car feels slow after you've been driving in performance mode.

I had a feeling the response would be to stick with the big names but thought i might aswell throw an idea into the mix. To be honest i trust what is said on here more than i trust my boss!

I am not familiar with sps switches... what do they do?

I have been looking at Revo though; there is a place in Hersham which is not to far from me.

A sps switch will allow you to flick between maps, so if your skint you can get about an extra 30 to 40 miles from a tank full or if you wanna play Switch to perfromance and bang extra 30 to 40 bhp and more toruqe which is nice. [:@]

The switch sounds like a decent enough idea... not that i ever hope to be skint enough to start worrying about petrol consumpiton although i should!

Are p-torque based only in Wolverhampton? A bit of a drive for me all be it on the motorway.
