I have a problem programming the remote fob for my Cordoba 1999 model. It has the remote included on the key, with two buttons, radio type, the older one (not the one with the foldable key). As far i understood I followed the procedure corectly, but nothing happens... Is there a light that should show the unit is waiting for the key programming? I read in one post that there should be some sort of 'key' symbol on the dash beeping or something... Is that the same for my model too (Cordoba GT 1.9TDI Vario)? I get no "key" symbol on the dash, could this be because probably the door sensors are not working corectly (so that it might seem that the doors are opened, while they actually are closed...)? Using the key on the lock the CL works fine, activates the alarm as well (and the alarm doesn't go off for the door sensors, although that might be because it senses the door "never" closes so it is never opening :).
Are those sensors esential for the programming of the remote fob?

Thanks a lot,

I have exactly the same problem and have even gone to the expense of buying a new key for the car as I thought that the key was knackered. Personally I think this maybe a dealer fix...or if you know someone with vag com.

After buying the new key did the remote central locking work? Or it continue not to work as well? I found another procedure on the Internet, different than the one indicated here, it requires the use of two keys (one to leave in the ignition and the one to be programmed):
1. Ignition on to red lights - using a working key (might leave the window open as well to facilitate everything).
2. Lock the doors from driver side using the key to be programmed
3. Within 5 seconds press UNLOCK button on the key to be programmed once (in order to memorise it on the first position), twice (for second position), three times for the thirs position and four time for the fourth position. The car might signal something (lights, horn ...).
4. Wait 5 seconds and press UNLOCK to unlock the door.
5. Turn ifnition off and remove key from ignition.
6. Press LOCK & UNLOCK to lock and unlock the car.

Could this work for this Cordoba model? Could it be that newer models use this procedure to resync the keys? I will give it a try tomorrow probably and hope for the best :)

Can anyone please give a try on their Ibiza/Cordoba to see if the procedure to programm the remote works as well with open doors (or at least with an open door)?
That's because I just replaced two of the sensors for the closed door (the ones that sense wheter the door is closed or not) and found out that the other two were not working too... To the central unit it might seem that the door is open all the time, hence not allowing for the reprogramming of the remote... Someone that already done the resync before corectly (so that he is sure he'll not remain out of sync ;) ) could please try to resync with at least one open door just to be sure wheter or not it will work that way (the procedure indicates to do it doors closed).
This might help all us having problems in resyncing, since I observed that those sensors deteriorate over time (mines had a few contacts oxidated - I think that's the correct word :), the contacts are internal and one can not see them from outside, so if the sensor is not working one would never know.
I founded a simple procedure to check the correct functioning of those sensors (apart for the driver's door, which would make a sound when lights are on, engine off and door open, sound that has to stop when u close the door): lock the doors with the key (but keeping one door open). The alarm will activate and u have a short time (around 30 seconds) to "close" all doors so that they will be considered for the alarm, for this time keep pressed the sensor "simulating" that the door is closed. When the small led on the driver door changes the blinking it means the alarm completly activated and u can start the test. Release the sensor u kept pressed and the alarm should go off making sounds if the sensor is working corectly. If it is not going off u probably have one defective sensor on that door :( To shut off the alarm u just have to use the key on one of the door and unlock the car. Try this on all doors and u will find out which sensors are not working ... If u did not manage to resync your remote please try this out in order to check if all door closing sensors are working, at least we could that case pinpoint the problem.

Hope someone can try this out and let me know whether or not the resync works with open doors as well or only with closed doors :)

No one can test the resync of the remote with an open door??? Or is it that some times it works, some times it does'nt so everyone is afraid to try and remain with a non-functional remote? ;)
