My remote key packed up a while ago. I gotr a new battery and cleaned all the contacts and no joy. So tried re-programming it with as few guides on here and still no joy.
I thought maybe the trasponder itself was screwed so i bought another key of ebay and tried to program that using the same methods and nothing...

Does anyone know a way to program the transponder that works....? :censored:

Thanks in advance

You can't reprogram the transponder. It's a single program job and once done it's coded to the car for life. The transponder for your key enables the immobiliser circuit in the car so that the car starts. Are you talking about the remote central locking function?

Sorry i mean the remote. Just the bit that opens the doors

I kept it simple and got the same key as before so i can swap the remote to my key. Which i have already done

Is it the same part number exactly, and same frequency? There are keys which look the same but are not compatible. The part number is inside. Should be something like HLO - 1J0 959 753 AG

Looks the same but is from a Ford Galaxy. Was told they are all the same.
Cant find a part number like that on origional key fob. Where inside is it? on the circuitboard?

I had a look at that page old fob says 174 HLO, new one doesnt say anything... Its not looking good is it?

No part number on your old key fob even? That's strange.

Anyway, looks like you might need someone with VCDS to recode your existing key, or at least to check out and see what's going on.

My mate has Vag-Com, We plugged it in before but couldnt find anything to do with keys being coded...
