Remote Locks Standard?

Hi Everyone,

I'm brand new to this forum and Seat. Just bought a 2007 Ibiza Cupra 1.8T. Looking forward to getting to know the car

Only issue I've come up against is the Remote Lock. The dealer I bought the car from claims this model didn't come with a remote lock. The only info I've found on this seems to say that all 02-09 models come with a remote lock (Which I'd expect really).

Does anyone else have a model that doesn't have remote locking?
If it DID have remote locking but they've lost the key, how much can I expect seat to charge for a new fob?

Any help appreciated, as well as tips on my new car

Hello welcome to the forum.

As far as I am aware (I could be wrong though) all Ibiza'a came with one remote key (2 button) and one plain key (spare).

His pulling your plonker. If this is a Seat dealer I would phone him up and complain.

A spare key is going to set you back around £70-100 from a dealer (quoted when bought mine in 2008).

Does yours have an alarm ? Without the remote key mine trips the alarm unless you turn on the ignition within a min or so ?

It's from an independent dealer. According to the dealer, it came without a remote key. I suppose it's more than likely the previous owner lost it or something.

It has the standard fitted alarm. I've only paid the deposit so far so I'll call him tomorrow and ask about the key and Alarm situation. Thanks for the heads up.

If he worded it that way then the Indy sounds like he only got the car with one key.

They originally had two as already said by krussel. If the Indy said it never came with one from the factory then that Indy sounds like he doesn't have a clue and is trying to fob you off (excuse the pun) try and get another key with the deal.

Buying a car with one key doesn't sound too bad if you can get a new key made on the same day and get the money knocked off the final price. I bought my car with one key but reprogrammed a new key that day and deleted all the previous keys from the immobiliser.

Most automotive locksmiths can make and program them to your car for around £100 (for the 2 button style) or a lot less for a non-remote backup key.
