I need to temporarily stop a bulb from being lit on the dash of the wife's 1.4 and I'm not sure how. It's the air-bag light and it's on because of the drivers-side side-impact sensor failing. Her car goes in for MOT tomorrow and while we've been told that it won't fail for it, she's still nervous. Until I can replace the sensor I just need the light to not be lit.

Disabling the sensor with VAG-Com doesn't help, so I need to either take the bulb out (is it even removable?) or I need to blank it off, but I can't find how to remove the clocks to get to it.

Any help please guys?

I've been told on here in a previous thread that it's not an MOT fail, but I wouldn't know. I was also told that disabling the sensor would get rid of the code but that didn't work, so unless anyone can give me detailed instructions on how to disable it, clear the code and stop the light coming on at all (think if you've replaced the seat and don't need it any more) then we don't have a lot of choice but to hope it goes through OK tomorrow and fix it afterwards

If the vehicle is fitted with an anti-lock braking system, check that

a. a warning lamp is fitted
b. the lamp illuminates
c. the lamp follows the correct sequence of operation
d. does not indicate a fault.

Note: The sequence varies with the type of system. Refer to VSI, the manufacturers or other reliable data, eg purpose produced charts, books, etc.

i just opened up the dash got a screwdriver down into the bulb and popped it right out. was doing my head in seeing that bloody thing lit up all the time. luckly for me my mate mots my car :D

Lee, you quoted about the ABS, not the air bag :)

I've done what the other article suggests, including with the yellow connector under the seat disconnected, but it still has the light on and somehow still reads that this fault exists. Annoying!

RS6, it's been a while :)
