Remove front suspension strut

Why not just remove the whole hub assembly with it It's tons quicker than fighting separating the hub from the strut, I just take the disc off the assembly to keep the weight down and can drop the whole leg out in about 15 mins.

Im fitting springs and dampers to my leon.

I kinda hijacked this post to try find out what size the spline was and if my the top nut was that funny shaped tool. Had a go today but pinch bolt is sized in so I'm hoping I can get some movement on it with my spline tomorrow but got the hub separator tool coming as well.

Ah fair enough Soak it in penetrating fluid then short sharp hits with a hammer put a nut on the end to protect the thread, I dont tend to heat it if I can avoid it Shocks being pressure vessels and all

I think the spline is like m16 on those I cant remember off hand and laser do the spreader tool for about £5 so well worth having, a good hammer and penetrating fluid if you need actual sizes I've got a stripped mk 4 in the garage atm so dont mind checking.

Gave them a good soaking today. It's getting window to ts done tomorrow. So should be good to go on Friday.

That was my thoughts exactly with the spreader tool, Amazon prime is the boy for stuff like that lol. I ordered a set of spline from M12 and upwards 5 or 6 sizes so should be able to get it.

Yeah heat, fluids and sealed chambers aren't a good combo. I learnt that lessons about 15years ago heating a brake bleed valve........ WOOPS lol

Hub spreader tool is so highly recommended. What a difference using the proper tool.
