Remove the drivers side air vent

Just did the same (fitted a carbon holder with Omori Boost gauge). A manual will be of no help since the only thing you need is a lot of patience and be careful nog to damage the dashboard.
I took a big screwdriver and a piece of wood. I took off the fuse box cover on the left (guess its not called that in the uk since you guys are on the wrong side of the car
and the fuses are on the non driver side....).
i then took the screwdriver and put it carefully (beware not to damage the temperature sensor) between the vent pipe and the air vent itself. After that I took the piece of wood put it against the door rubber and used that as a base to wedge the airvent carefully out.
Keep in mind that a broken air vent isn't a big problem but a damaged dashboard is since it will cost a lot of money.

Did you buy that carbon holder plate or make it yourself?
Does the air vent just push out with a little force or do I have to undo any clips or the like?
Just force is required.
just force....pushing from the backside with a screwdriver (as written)
I had the carbon holder made by FibreLite (I had some help from another forum member, did some adjustments and an autocad drawing was made out of it). Feel free to email fibrelite (Stephen) and use my drawings (prices are ok).
Omori meters can be had at a Subaru dealer (very expensive) or the states.
This setup is also delivered for Audi and will cost an incredibel amount of money, I did the same at roughly half the price....
In this way the vent funktion will stay roughly intact (with a 52 mm meter it won't)

Yes, this is what I did, felt like I was going to break something then the vent popped out.
The vents function can still be retained with a 52mm gauge albeit with probably less airflow than a smaller gauge.
