Remove window winder

I am attempting to resolve the problem of water in the rear footwell of my Toledo. I have some instruction on how to do this, but it doeasn't give instructions of how to remove the window winder. I have tried levering it off, but to no avail and am a bit scared I am going to break it.

Can anyone help with this?

the plastic collar just pushes down to release it. push it down the direction of the shaft of the handle.

Thanks for the tip, was getting ready to tie a piece of rope to it and pull it off. Cheers!
