Hi there,

Cupra R on standard suspension, as the cars on the 70/80k mark I'm thinking of changing the shocks front and rear as they probably not at their best now

I had a price of David at Sere for the seat shocks which are 74 and 64 each

Does anyone know if there are any other cheaper/better options?

I'm not interested in lowering the car as we live in wales, any advice welcome thanks

carry out a simple "bounce" test and check them for leaks. if there fine, dont bother changing them lol. my old focus done 120/130k before i changed the shocks, for uprated ones not because they failed.
my lcr is about 78/80 k and the shocks are fine.....

gonna re-light this thread

Tested shocks last night and the rear's have had it, but the fronts are not too bad. I'm thinking maybe a suspension kit now as I want to tighten the ride up as much as possible however i'm not to keen on lowering as such living in the sticks we have to tackle narrow country tracks

Can anybody recommend anything ???

I fancied the Koni FSD when I was doing mine, they got very good reviews and don't drop the car. Problem is I couldn't afford them. In the end I went for Bilstein B4's from Eurocarparts. I got them for about a third of those OEM prices, but they have gone up a bit now. And they may be a bit more anyway for the LCR version.

I wouldn't bother with a bounce test to prove shocks, shocks have to be completely screwed for them to bounce more than once nowadays. I wouldn't put any more than 100k on a set of shocks.

Yeah got a price for koni fsd £445, seen also on the bay eibach pro damper kit £299, which seems good value. I don't want to spend loads but I'd like something better then standard. I was also quoted 66 each for spax rear adjustable and 100 for the fronts, (ex vat I think) not sure if they are worth considering, could be useful.

It might be worth dropping them an email or call (or even going to a shop), mine didn't show up on the website but they were able to match Bilstein part numbers to their stock codes.

That Koni price sounds about right, Eibach are good kit as well and £299 sounds quite decent. I'd go for Eibach over Spax, even with them being adjustable. Actually, the Spax work out more expensive?

yeah thanks. i'll try calling them tomorrow, the bilsteins would be ideal if the price was right. Although tempted with Eibach kit also as if used Eibach b4 on previous cars

i'm not sure my budget would stretch to the koni's to be honest. i'm guessin the bilstein b4 are the base damper's to upgrade to then its the b6's (is that right) , how would those b4's compare to eibach's you think ?

B4 is the standard OEM damper, so basically just new shock absorbers. B6 is the sportier version that is a good choice if you're looking to lower it as well, but they will work with standard springs. B8 are the full blown sport that have to be used with shorter springs.

I remember there being a big price jump to the B6's, even so far as to make the Koni's worth revisiting. And if you can get to the Koni price, I wouldn't bother with anything else.

Not sure you'll get many wanting to maintain standard ride height, it's almost compulsory to drop an LCR if it hasn't been already. Thankfully there are still people who favour retaining their sump over an extra 20mph in the corners!
