Yea I hear that but I have told myself I will not lower the car or shall I say the Mrs. has.

euro car parts don't stock the bilsteins, I spoke a local dealer and they too are having the supply issues. The only reason I dont want to go any lower is we scrub the splitter/undertray at the moment. I'm not sure if this due to the shocks being worn. I've put poly bushes on the front and that did improve things. Maybe if I went 10mm/15mm lower on nice new suspension it wouldn't scrub on the road so much. Doesnt help much the roads round here mind

I should mention that in general shock absorbers don't affect ride height, only when you're going round corners will they have any effect. If you're dragging the splitter no matter how slow you go then new shocks won't help.

Yeah, I thought that. Its probably just the roads round here. The leon cupra r is a low car by its own rights anyway. Maybe I've popped a spring. Wil have a good look 2moz

I'm thinking i'm going to have to save up some more pennies. Which would you choose ?? Bilsteins (b6's) or the koni fsd's. I'm going to be running on the standard springs. then thinking about getting the rear ARB if someone can point me in the right direction on that one.

Koni without a doubt. The Bilsteins seem to have a good rep, but when you get into Koni price range you might as well go for those.

As for the rear ARB, I got mine second hand, it was perfectly serviceable. It was about 60% of the new price, including delivery. Just keep an eye out on Ebay, they pop up occasionally. Don't forget to look in the VW section as well, they're interchangeable and there's a lot more Golf's out there.

Has anybody used the spax adjustable dampers? I'm pretty much decided on the B6's but Just had a friend mention he had superb results with the spax adjustables on a different car. Just checked and they do a such a shock which can be used on stock springs

I was interested in the eibach option until I was told by damien at dpm he wouldn't recommend using the eibach pro dampers without the lowering springs. I looked on the eibach site they say the warranty is void if used with stock springs. I think that means u can't. Would of been a nice option at 350. Not that much choice for staying standard height it seems

just thought i'd close this thread now for anyone's interest , fitted koni FSD about two weeks ago using my OEM springs, got a really good price from a friend of a friend. I have to say that I am very impressed with the setup. Great round town not too harsh and controls the car well through corners.

Before I was having problems with ground clearance; but now car is now riding slightly higher than before meaning that the factory shocks where definitely worn out.

Car feels totally transformed and a joy to drive, would recommend to anyone wishing not to lower car
