anyone else replaced tyres yet if so at what mileage
rears are still good so replaced fronts like for like

It depends so much on how you drive, what roads you drive on, and the tyre you start with. Give it the beans around country lanes ofnP-Zero's (many performance tyres come with less tread than other tyres to start with) and you might manage 8k. Drive steadliy on the motorway on Barum Bravuris ( a favourite "mid-range" performance tyre) and you might get 18k out of set of fronts.

How much did you pay for each tyre out of of curiosity?

Really? or are you referring to some that come with around 4.5/5mm? I know some performance tyres do have less tread on the edges mainly noticiable on Michelin's..

A bit of an older thread (and there may be similars I have missed) but I have to admit to nearly falling through the floor when the service manager told me the tyres were now close to 3mm and needed replacement having just covered 11k miles. That is not something the sales team mention when discussing the car! In all my previous cars I have achieved well over 25k (over 30k in most recent car). This will be an unexpected large annual bill ☹.

Any suggestions on brand/model of tyre that will last longer?

Budget tyres will last forever

No grip / no wear

Unfortunately if you want grip that will come at the expense of longevity.

I don't think i've ever got past 10k miles from tyres on the driven wheels ?

I can attest to the longevity of Barum Bravuris on my previous car (Saab).
Went 60.000 km (37.000 miles) on those suckers before they had just 2mm tread left. And I punished those tires with 200+ HP.
Dry grip was pretty good. Wet was absolute ****.

I kill a set of rears on my RWD Honda in around 5k, fronts 'might' last twice that, on my last hot hatch fronts would do 6-8k with rears at 12+k, you guys are not trying hard enough.:roflmao:

I got 20k out of a set of hankooks on my tiguan. I rotated them twice a year though. Went back with 4mm on each tyre. If you can be bothered its worth rotating. As for wear i found bridgestone re050a pretty good on a golf gtd i had, not great in the wet though.

My old 3 series coupe was 6k on the rear tyres and they were not cheap in 255 width ??

I got 17,000 miles out of mine and have just replaced all 4 for Michelin Pilot Sport 5. First impressions after 2 weeks are great
Hi, now you have had the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres for a while would you recommend them and how do they compare to the original tyres? I have a VZ2 310 with 16,000 miles so will need to replace all 4 tyres soon as they are all down to 3mm tread.

I’m using the same car and my original tires lasted a similar timeframe. The MPS5 have been great. I’ve noticed a massive difference in grip which was my main aim. Done 15,000 miles on them sitar and I reckon I have another 5,000 in them.

I am expecting a dramatic downturn in grip these next few months given the weather so will probably change them over to a more suitable tread then back to the MPS5s for the summer.

24.5k on the fronts on my old Leon before they needed changing. 25.5k on the rears when it went and still had 6mm tread on them according to the collection report. That's not driving like Miss Daisy, it's driving like Lewis Hamilton, make those tyres last! It'll be interesting to see how I get on with the shoes on the Formentor.

I have just ordered a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres as I got a puncture yesterday and all 4 tyres are 3mm or less from Costco for £613.56 inc vat fitted. Hopefully they will be delivered on Monday so I can get them fitted ?

So you guys are still using summer tyres? Isn't it icy and snowy in UK?
