Replacing the Rear Wiper on a Ibiza SC

Hi, a few weeks ago managed to snap the rear wiper arm on my Ibiza SC. Thanks to my local dealer I now have a replacement arm but can't figure out how to get it on there. Thought it would be pretty straightforward, remove the washer, slide the old one off, slide the new one on, refit the washer but the old one seems to be jamed solid and won't budge. Hoping someone on here can offer some advise, am I missing something really obvious? A bit reluctant to pay a dealer to do this, it can't be that hard surely?

I had my Cupra a week and lifted the rear wiper when I was cleaning the car and the whole thing exploded in my hand. Spring flew out and little bits of black plastic went flying too. Luckily mine was replaced under warranty - surely if yours is under 3 years old you should be covered too?

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately not that simple. Actually broke it myself, hose from a power washer got itself underneath the arm while I was cleaning the car without me realising, went to pull the hose round to the front of the car and crack Don't think causing damage to the car yourself through absolute stupidy is covered by the warranty unfortunately Anyway have managed to get the remainder of the plastic around what was left of the wiper arm off and now have a bolt. Have just applied a fair amount of WD40 and am giving it a while to soak in, annoyingly the bolts got no flat sides so you can't even easily use a spanner on it.

I have exactly the same problem. My wiper arm got wekened I think when my hand slipped when pushing the car in the snow and it hit the arm. It eventaully just broke and fell off some time later.

Have purchased a new arm, £36 for a piece of plastic! Taken the nut off, and it should just be removed old and fit new, slide off but it is on hard. I am also soaking in WD40 just now, but wondering if these are perhaps pressed on? Interference fit? Wondering if a puller and fitting tool is required?

Would be grateful for any advice.

Ok I have done it. I slipped an open ended spanner under the wiper arm of the correct size so the fingers fitted under the arm, and gently prised it off. The car is only just over a year old. For older ones you do get wiper arm removal tools which would do the job. Available on Ebay or Amazon.

Forgot to order a plastic cover as well as one of the legs of this broke off. Stuck on with some silicone just now. These are available on Ebay.

i was considering fitting the rear wiper off of the polo as it isnt so chunky i presume it would fit on just the same?

Exactly the same thing happened to me while I was washing my Cupra last month. The lug on the wiper that holds the spring on snapped under the tension and pinged off. The dealer didn't want to replace it under warranty as they said it could have been vandalised! Luckily the SEAT warranty guy happened to be at the dealership and he okayed it straight away
